I'm just curious how many deer some of you have taken. I know that there will be a lot of variables like.. how old you are, weapon choice, if you hunt multiple states etc...
I have killed 13 deer.
-
I've killed one in Washington every year for the last 30 years straight. Toss in an Idaho and Montana one in there once in awhile.
-
In the hundreds I am sure. I lived and hunted in states where multiple deer and party hunting is legal. :dunno:
-
12. 5 white tail, 5 mule, 2 blacktail.
-
19 total. 11 whitetail, 6 blacktail, and 2 mule deer. 15 with a bow, 2 rifle, and 2 muzzy. All in Washington.
-
49
-
Legally?
:chuckle:

never even hit one with a car in my lifetime (knock on wood toss salt and stuff)
-
Probably 33 deer then... estimate, never used to keep track. Didn 't matter as much back then...Used to send all our racks from Lake Chelan hunts to the landfill...
Front bumpers don't count either huh..?
-
To many to have kept track of started deer hunting at age 12 in MI, currently 64 and have Hunted in SC where we were allowed 2 deer per day from Mid Aug to Mid Jan were also allowed to use dogs, Hunted VA where we did drive hunts with standers, would have to say plenty
-
Alot
-
53 at age 26
-
22 10with Rifle 12 with stick and string.
And the Muley that totaled my Toyota 4x4 So I guess it is 23.
-
Never kept count, but I need to now if my truck counts or not, because that would add 2.
-
I think car deer should count, they are freaken expensive.
-
8 mulie bucks. Started hunting deer in 04
Oh yeah, 2 blackies,4 mulie, and 5 white tail crossed the road at the wrong time :chuckle: :chuckle:
I guess I was asking for legally hunted deer, so dont count roadkil, But dang Naches Sportsman are you saying you hit 11 deer with your truck?
-
I can't keep track and must not have a memory to recall like many on here.
Unless you guys are keeping a tally written down or notched on your bed frame not sure how once you get past 10 or so you can remember all of them. Especially with the doe seasons that once were so liberal.
I estimate 16, I am 40 yrs old. Have not bought a deer tag for 5 years until this year so I could take my daughter out. Never miss a elk season however.
-
"Killed" is a harsh way of putting it.
I prefer "relieving them of the burdens and stress of worrying if they are fit to fill my freezer".
How many? Same answer as every other year; 1 less than I want to!
-
will never admit , wa . ore, id, mont, col, bc. I ran outta toes and fingers ! I know 28 elk though . im 43 years old .
-
I've killed a blacktail every year since I started hunting them. Killed my tenth one this year, all bucks. My dad can't stand hunting around here so I didn't start until I was 16. Killed my first buck at 9 years old, a muley in Montana. I think I'm at 7 mule deer now so that makes it 17 bucks total. Still trying to get my first whitetail buck.
-
9 maybe 10, been hunting for 35+ years,Bone i'm looking for a new freind :chuckle:

sirmissalot, One of these years how about I get you on good whitetail ground (in 121) in trade you get me on good blacktail ground? Something to think about anyway. I have been thinking about blacktail for awhile now and spend a few weeks in Aberdeen every year. May have to make some aberdeen trips during the 4 day late season in future years.

never killed a big game animal :) yet

This is one area I really wish I would have kept track over my life (49 years old). But as far as I can remember about 75-80 approximately. That covers 4 species in 4 different states, male and female.
-
Thats impressive coach. Elk really aren't my thing, but thats still impressive.
-
not sure exactly, but I had four or five years where I killed 10-15 deer...that added up pretty quick! (hunting in Iowa)
I have a hard time getting excited about deer hunting in WA- I guess I've killed 5 in the last 7 years. I don't know if I'll get the MZ out next week or not... :dunno:
-
I think the better question would be how many blacktail over 120, whitetail over 140, and mule deer over 160 is a better question.
Anyone can go out and kill a doe, spike, or even a forky. I don't remember the last time I took a deer under 3 1/2 years old. I think it's more ethical to let them grow up.
-
I feel lucky enough to have 1 in the 20 years, not from the lack of trying either. Guess I don't have the luck or skill some have here, or don't know the right place or people.
I refuse to give up though, I remember my father stating after I shot mine making the comment there are those who go their whole life without getting a deer (this included him)
This is one of the reasons I love living vicariously through the hunts and stories everyone else shares here.

getting excited about deer hunting in WA
not that you said this, but made me think of it....... I hear all the time on here the reference of getting excited about killing something. Is it weird that I really don't hold joy in killing a deer or any animal for that matter. Except maybe wolves. LOL Am I turning green? I enjoy the hunt, I enjoy the harvest, but I don't enjoy killing....
Maybe this should be another thread???

But, what you do experience with your photography means you have the skill to succeed in the harvesting should you choose to. It is not about the killing it is about the time spent with family, friends and mother nature.
-
8. 4 blacktail 3 muleys and a whitetail all from WA. 2 with bow 6 with rifle. I'm 25 and haven't had the chance to hunt out of state yet but that will change soon when I'm out of college. I'm gonna have a hard time leaving before I get that big blacky that I want so bad  Maybe I can seal the deal here in the late season, as I do have til december 31 :IBCOOL:
-
Between AR,WA, ID, and MT, does and bucks, maybe 35? The bulk of them were AR whitetail does. I am 31.

I guess about 60 deer & 10 elk.

Absolutely man, I'd love to. Rifle season is where it's at for blacktail, and there are a couple permits you can apply for that would up your odds on a mature buck if you feel like burning some quality buck tags on a Wiley old blacktail.
-
Been hunting since 1976 and always managed to find a deer for the freezer. All blacktails. Best buck so far is an average 3 point. Cannot seem to beg, borrow or steal a 4 point!!! And until this season, that was all in the area around Toutle, and included 4 with a bow and 1 with a muzzy.

could living in Marijuana ville be clouding your scope?
-
:lol4: I was thinking that same thing. . Blowing on the ole deer whistle helps get tuned in sometimes, but too much and too often in definetly a bad thing.
-
I've killed and recovered every one I've put an arrow or bullet into.
-
I'm not sure exactly, in Indiana where I grew up, you can harvest multiple of does. I think I've taken 6 bucks though. Probably somewhere around 20-25 deer total.
-
Lost track of exact numbers but as close as I can guess. 2 Sitka blacktails, 2 Washington benchleg blackies, several other coastal blackies, 4 or 5 Washington mulies, a bunch of WA whitetails, one Idaho whitie and 4 Alabama whities. Oh, and 2 California blackies. All bucks, never shot a doe and never will. I've loaned out or given away so many racks that I don't have anything to reference them all. Dumb move.
2 by car
-
7 Total: 2 Buck's, 5 Doe's.
1 Blacktail buck in WA, rest were Whitetails in Oklahoma.
4 taken with modern, 2 with Boomstick and 1 Bow kill.
I'm 26 and took hunters ed in 2000, didn't really get into hunting though till 2004 when I nailed my first buck in the Yacolt Burn. Been hooked ever since.
And as to the whole "killing" vs "harvest" thing, we all call it and deal with things differently. I work in Oregon with a bunch of tree hunggin hippies :bash:, so I like messin with people and tell them if I don't get the Bloodlust out of my system during hunting season I'm gunna have go slaughter all the animals in a pet store...They get all twisted up about me saying that...I find it funny they get twisted up. they all like the deer meat I bring in though, odd how that works. :chuckle:
-
I've killed and recovered every one I've put an arrow or bullet into.
:yeah:
Same hear, shot my first buck at age 6 and 41 years later have never lost or wounded an animal, bow, rifle or muzzy. With that said, I have missed a lot of opportunities waiting for the perfect shot. I would rather him walk off to live another day than take a risky shot and have him die a slow, miserable death.
-
Quit counting at 20. Guessing 20 something now + 4 elk.
-
enough to let the "little ones" live for another year! Lol.
-
I'm 15 and have killed 7 deer 4 in WA 3 in Idaho... haven't gone a year without shooting one! :IBCOOL:

Same for me out of 7 deer never wounded or lost an animal. :yeah:
-
I have lost three animals though. One bear and two deer.
-
In my five years of deer hunting I've killed four deer, three mule deer bucks and a blacktail buck.
-
All WA deer... Been hunting for @ 17 years now.. I think I'm right around 20-22 deer.... Mostly bucks.. With some second tag does..... I think there was only one year I didn't shoot a buck...
-
10% kill 90% this looks to be true
-
Not counting this year,,( because I have not been out yet, and don't realy know if I will ) at last count was some were around 125 deer and 10 elk..
Hunterman(Tony)
-
Don't know. When living in other states I think the most I shot in one year was 7.
-
Wow you whitey hunters can really stackem up back east !
-
58 Deer
6 elk
1 Cougar
1 Bear
-

Those states take a different approach to the management of the herds. Hunting was recognized as a significant contributor to the economy. In one state we'd get paid $50 per yote tail!!!

3 Blacktails with a shotgun, no dinks. only been hunting 7 years though.
-
4. 3 Does and 1 buck, all muleys. I'm 16 and hunted every season sense I was 9, except this year.
-
At least a deer a year since I was 13...so with a few trips to Idaho roughly 32-35...Think Im at around 25 blacktail, all bucks, half dozen mulies and couple of whitetail..

This was my first year Deer hunting

I honestly don't know how many deer I've killed. Between Washington and Idaho.... quite a few though. I do now I have killed 6 elk though all Washington. Easier to remember a small number :chuckle:.
-
Deer-24 Oregon, Washington and Pennsylvania
Elk-2 WA
Hope I did not forget any...... :dunno:
-
only enough for me to eat.

Bwahhaaa. This thread is exactly like asking any dood how many women he's boinked. Interesting "truth" telling.....LOL x9347
-
I've killed 16 so far. Been hunting for 20 years
-
21, 11 whitetail and 10 Muleys, in 3 different states, 7 in South Dakota, 2 in Idaho, the rest in WA.
-
I've had lots of years that I shot 4 to 5 deer. I'm not really sure, but I'm thinking around 45 to 50. I had several years when I didn't get to hunt and therefore a big goose egg.
I've also shot 3 elk and 1 bear.
Shot most of them with a bow. My two best trophies are rifle kills though.
-
First one one this year! :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

8 for 8 years :IBCOOL:

this is my 8th year huntin and killed 7 so far and still got late archery this year...one whitetail and 6 blacktail.

i have shot 12 i think... all mulies lol ill have to count my antlers again, i not to worried about the game department they dont have a report card, i never report my hunting at the end of the year so they wouldnt know anyways :chuckle: im sure with my luck id report i shot some bird and theyd be like well you only had 7 of the 8 tags/stamps you need to shoot that bird, and by the way that bird was from oregon...did you buy an oregon license this year? :chuckle: lol i dont even bird hunt anymore anyways..its amazing how much crap you gotta buy to shoot a bird! they should just have one tag for upland/waterfowl in one!
-
I'm 33 and harvested 20 in 22 years. I only used 1 box of ammo...how much does a box cost now days? :chuckle:
-
Do you keep putting more shells in the same box? :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
28 and 13 bear
-
In twenty years of Washington hunting
10 deer/ 8 Blacktail, 2 mulies Seven with Rifle, Three with a muzzie
10 elk/ 9 bulls, 1 cow All with the same rifle
1 bear
-
NOT ENOUGH :dunno: :chuckle: ;)
-
We have a winner :chuckle: :whoo: :whoo: :whoo:
-
i've gotten a few. some of the comments on here got me to thinking, letting 'em walk to be ethical VS shooting any barely legal buck. met an older man (74) who told me he hunted for 50+ years and finally got himself a "nice" one, he showed me a basket racked 4x4 whitetail, turns out he was always shooting the 1st legal 1 he saw and was always a spike or fork. to each his own, good luck to you late season hunters!
-
9 deer in 8 years.
-
someones got to kill the old spikes and forkys i have shot a spike and a forky that were both over 7 years old when it comes to the last day i will shoot any thing legal i wont give the state nothing if i dont get anything back.
-
All of them.
I have not eaten a live one, yet.
-
killed probably 20 something deer. Used to shoot any legal deer, but now, won't shoot one smaller than 4 pt. Just don't need the meat that bad and I'd like to see some of the little ones grow up...
-
venison meat is like a trophy for me love the meat more than anyother type, thats why last day if its legal its going down
-
I have killed 4 blacktails since I started hunting in 2005. I have had a shot at a mature blacktail buck almost every year since I started hunting.

-
shot 5 bucks and 1 doe all blacktail. 6 deer out of the 8 years ive hunted.
-
I"ve only killed a few. Two bucks first was a 2pt and this years nice 4pt whitetail. Then a few does.
So prolly about 6-7 deer total. One doe was killed with a mac 90 nice little gun kind of miss it.
-
Somewhere between 150-200 I'd guess. Lived in Alaska for over 30 years with a limit of 4-7 deer per year. Probably averaged close to 5 per year. Add to that proxy hunting to fill elders' freezers and the deer I've taken in Washington. I can honestly say too many to remember them all.
-
Just 2. Both small muley bucks. First in 2009 in WA and the second a couple weeks ago in WY.
-
39 hunting and 5 with cars on hwy 395

Ya, no kidding! I thought mid 20s with a pair of elk was above average.
-
7 axis, 1 blacktail and 1 whitetail deer. But I have 5 more tags to fill this year so hopefully my whitetial total will go up.
-
I wont say because I dont want to incriminate myself. But Ive killed a lot of deer over the years. Not so many the last few because I havent needed the meat so Ive passed up a lot of opportunities. ;)
-
29 since '83. The few years I was skunked in wa I took some in mt.
-
lots and lots
-
18, mostly in Washington. I had a 10 year "break" between 1991 and 2001. Gone in the Army, overseas, etc...

Not everyone has the time or money to "wait" for a really nice mature buck. I hunt for meat, if its got a nice set of horns its a bonus. and just because i hunt for meat dosent mean I shoot dog sized deer either. also I hate handng my money over to the state and get nothing in return too. Thats whyI pay taxes!
-
age 27 8 mule deer 1 whitail
-
6
1- rifle
5 - bow
-
One so far this year, still looking to fill my multi season buck tag. Oh you mean in my lifetime, memory is abit fuzzy once I get back a few years, first buck would have been in '83 I think.
Ryderwood 2nd deer antlerless tag.
-
Age 14 and killed 5 all whiteys, 1 buck
-
36 whiteys 5 mulies in 3 states.
-
I am not really sure how many.....a lot though. :chuckle:
-
Now I see why there are so few deer in Washington. :chuckle: You guys killed them all.
-
15, but have passed up alot of small bucks over the years. 2 mule deer, 13 Blacktails
-
For all the great hunts I have had only 3 bucks. I haven't done that well harvesting deer.
I have gotten nine elk though.
-
:IBCOOL:

Forgot to add... 1 in Idaho and 4 in wa

That would work for me... :chuckle:
-
11 for me, 5 mulies, 4 blacktail, and 2 whitetail and one whitie was a doe. I was with my kids on 8 out of 23 of their deer which was just as good as pulling the trigger myself. 2 elk and one bear. I hunt for food first but a few were good enough for the wall. I agree, if I pay for the tags Im doing all I can to fill the tag. This year I held out for a good whitetail but would have filled the freezer regardless. This is an interesting thread with the tags they allow back east and some can't remember how many they shoot.
-
3 whities abd 6 muleys all in Lincoln county. 6 of them fron the same ranch I have been hunting for 16 years.
-
I am 13 years old. I have killed 6 deer. 3 mulies and 3 whitetails. 3 of them were bucks. All of them were in Washington State.

15, 5 deer. All whitetails.

I'm the opposite. I'm 34; I'm somewhere in the mid 20's on deer. I've now taken bucks with a recurve, compound, muzzle loader, and rifle but have only taken one bull elk:-(. My goal now for deer otc public land bucks is to always beat 135 B&C or 20 inches. Either that, or settle for a doe on the last day with my bow. This standard has worked out great for me as I've spent a lot more days hunting since I started being more selective. I raise the standard on years I've drawn multi season tags as I don't want to have to quit. I also adjust it in other states depending on what I feel is above Average trophy potential for the areas I am hunting. In Montana I try to hold out for 25 inches or 160 B&C. So far, the freezer has never ran dry. But if it did, id probably adjust my rules.
-
Im 12, and I have gotten 3 deer and I've been hunting four 4 years.
-
5 bucks and 4 does. 2 spikes and 2 cow elk all archery
-
5 muleys, 2 whiteys. For me and 1 spike bull all with my bow as well.
-
3 total. 1 whitetail, 2 black tails. 33 years old. By far was most proud of myself with this years spike. Got it 100% by myself.
-
1 so far. got my first one this year. im already anxious for next season
-
12 deer, 1 cougar, 1 elk. 80 percent shot with a bow. Numbers should be higher but the rough patch in my late teens had me running a road that kept me from the important and meaningfull things in life.

-
well i have killed a buck in washington every year since i was 13 and im 30 now and a few for my disabled dad in recent years plus idaho and montana so yeah alot.. But its not numbers that matter but mature bucks is what i been hunting for in the last ten years with good sucess.
-
21 Bucks and 6 Does
-
22 all blacktails all washington all tasty
-
15, 2 Mulies and 13 Blacktail. I've let alot of small bucks walk, and then not had a shot at anything the rest of the season. Oh, and I've missed a few.Okay, more than a few!!!!
-
I must be getting close to 20 all archery deer.
-
22 deer total, all bucks.
7 blacktail
1 whitetail
14 mule deer, 10 years in a row now 4x4 or bigger
oh and 9 bulls and im 25

Have hit 5 with motor vehicle, 4 confirmed kills
Dispatched/killed/collected approximately 400 injured, ag damage and scientific collection

7 mulleys and 5 whitetails
-
Now if the game department can run a quick report card check, would anybody wish to recount?? :o :o :chuckle:
Bwahhaaa. This thread is exactly like asking any dood how many women he's boinked. Interesting "truth" telling.....LOL x9347
I've killed a lot more deer than women I've boinked. Fortunately, marriage hasn't stopped my deer killing.
-
As already mentioned, I wished I would have kept track of the number of deer. It is in the 50 - 60 range though from just trying to think about most of them. Hunting Washington, Oregon and Idaho. That total accounts for all 3 too, Blacktail, Mule Deer and Whitetails. I have a better track on the Elk though, should be around the 15 to 17 Bulls and 6 or 7 on Cows.
-
Hmmm... More than some , less than others. I hunt more for pleasure than subsistence so I don't make filling my tag as high a priority as some.
-
41 and I'm 15 but that's between 3 states
-
thats like asking how many bottles of water you have drank hahaha only god knows.
-
21. 15 muleys, 6 whitetail. All bucks. 4 states, all weapon types.
-

Looks like both of us need to hunt in our backyards. :chuckle:
-
rifle: 7 whitetail, 2 blacktail, 1 mulie... and a decent elk
Achery: 1 blackbear and 4 turkeys and countless coyotes at age 18
Thanks to my brother and father teaching me everything i know.
-
I am thinking close to 20, 9 bucks(2 rifle, 7archery) and probably 8-9 does(1rifle the rest archery).
Short answer....not enough. :chuckle: I can hardly wait for next year.
-
Not sure as WV was five a year growing up :o, a few in Wyoming, one in Texas, a few in Ohio, a few in PA, a few in Washington, and two Sitka Blacktails in AK...
-
Maybe I'm the only anal one here, but I've kept a note book with the records of every big and small game animal I've killed since I was 15yrs. When I moved here in 1984 I even kept record of of ever bird I shot, wounded and days hunted. Kept a record of the big game animals I killed with each rifle I've owned. Wish I kept a record on the bullets I used on them also , but I didn't. I can remember most of those I used and can't remember ever having a complete bullet failure and I used a lot of different bullets being a hand loader.

Isn't it crazy how you remember the missed oppertunities! I can vividly recall nearly all my misses; with rifle, ML, and bow. I can recall the times my ML failed to shoot, and even blown stalks. I honestly remember most of these situations right down to the smallest detail and probably as much or more than my successes. I'm glad I remember, though, because it keeps me hungry and has made me a better hunter!

Another 0 here. Put a buddy on his last year. now he's hooked, he went out and got his big 3x3 in his first hour of hunting. Pretty darn exciting. And now I'm sure I'll have a hunting partner for life! :chuckle:
-
Oh goodness! I stopped counting years ago. Had taken only a couple before I started bowhunting in '80. Since then I think two or three more with the rifle. Probably somewhere between 60 and 70 with the bow since '82. Probably average just over one per year since marriage. Prior to marriage if there was a season open I was hunting! I was one of those few that preferred deer hunting over elk hunting. I prefer deer meat to elk meat too! But, I've always been the odd man out.
Don't get me wrong. I still harvest my fair share of elk 28 w/bow (5 cows) plus another 3 bulls w/rifle.
So probably between 65 & 75. Can add another 10 if I put exotics on the list - love eating axis and sika. Only a half dozen P&Y. Missed my fair share of those though :bash:
OR, WA, ID, AZ, TX, WV, SC, PA, BC, ALB, AK & SAS if memory serves me right.

:chuckle: :chuckle: Some people get offensive when you talk about all the deer you killed :chuckle: Lucky for me I grew up in Pa on a farm and had crop damage permits to fill ...So at a very young age my totals were over the limit ....Lmao ! All and most were killed with a .22 :yike:
-
Started hunting when I was 8 and have harvested a deer all but 2 or 3 years. Add in a few years that I have killed more than one (out of state or second deer tag) and I would say I have harvested approx 30 deer.

In parts of Alabama and Georgia it is still 3 deer per day. 2 does and a buck for the entire 90 day season. Their season goes through the end of January.

North Carolina you can harvest 6.

I'm just curious how many deer some of you have taken. I know that there will be a lot of variables like.. how old you are, weapon choice, if you hunt multiple states etc...
I have killed 13 deer.
5 doe and 2 bucks

Really?!! This is an example of what should be banned from this sight. There is no foul language but it is foul to me. It has no place on a family forum. Keep it to yourself. I don't care where you've been. You would be one of the last people I'd hunt with. Glad I could voice my opinion.

I am sure it is likewise with him too.

they say never let another hunter out lie you...and this thread proves the point...where does one begin since there is no truth in numbers...to have killed one is to have many for the experience is all the same...since 12 hunting just in this state now 5 times that age...48

I'm glad you could voice your opinion too. I'm not sure I understand your righteous indignation over my silly little joke about my dedication to my wife contrasted with the amount of deer hunting that I've done since my wedding day. It was a subtle joke, I know, so maybe you didn't pick up the fact that my underlying message was that "boinking" has been curtailed while deer hunting has not. I really don't think you should care where I've been, although I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. And I certainly don't recall soliciting for a new hunting partner. For the record though, you would be welcome in our camp because we take all sorts. In my opinion, overdeveloped sensitivities should be banned from public forums. Glad there is none of that around here.

Which now begs the question of, is this site going to be regulated as a family friendly forum or not?

8 mulie bucks. Started hunting deer in 04

9 deer total, 2 does, 7 bucks. 2 mule deer bucks in WA, 2 blacktail does in WA, and 5 nice bucks in WY. Killed my first buck at 12 in Wyoming about 20 minutes into the first day I ever carried a gun in the field.
