It'll be 2 years ago that I had to put ole Bill down but as I get ready for another goose season I seem to find myself thinking about the hound. Now don't get me wrong Macey has stepped up and became a very good dawg but there will always be an empty spot in my heart for the ole man. Sometimes he was just a big ole goof ball and you couldn't help but laugh
-
But when it came to hunting he was all business. Banks lake tons of geese on the lake and almost everytime we went there he'd sit in this same spot and just watch listen and wait
-
He was like a shadow and one of the most loyal friends a guy could ask for
-
Even though his heritage was in question he was all retiever at heart, scared me a few times by breakin thru ice and stuff but there was no quit in him and the more birds he got to retrieve the better he liked it
-
He got along with everyone and as long as other dogs didn't try to start anything with him he get along with them to. He didn't mind showin the youngin how it was done
-
It is really hard saying goodbye, but it is nice to reminisce about the times you had with them.
-
But going for a ride was something he couldn't get enough of. A cold day with the defrost going and the sun comeing thru the windshield was tuff to take
-
Thanks tl :'(
But when we got home he really knew how to take it easy and relax
-
This was his last retrieve Sept 2006 with a little help from Macey. I didn't know that it would be at the time so I'm so glad i got this shot.
-
Now this will be Macey and my second year of just us and she has come along way from the yard dawg I got 4 years ago. She is my love now but the ole man will always be in my heart and soul. Thanks for takin the time to look and let me remember some great times
-
Thanks for the pics. They are great.
I had to put down my 13yr old Black Lab this year (in April) and I still get a little misty-eyed thinking about him.
Good luck to you and Macey this year. :)

I remember ole Bill and a lot more pictures I still have of him here in the computer some where. He was big enough to wade where other dogs had to swim. He was a gentle man.
