I was fortunate enough to kill a great WA buck earlier this week. After four days of rather tough hunting, I was able to find, and close the deal on this great buck. Spotted him from a mile away, poor wind conditions, a lot of walking, and four hours later, I was able to find him bedded back where I started. I was able to get to under 200 yards from him as he stood up out of his bed, unaware of me, and able to get a good shot into him. One more for insurance, and he was down for good. He is going to gross right about 243 and net around 235. :chuckle:

Sorry, pics soon to follow!

If this was the buck I saw today from my step dad in my email, then it's an absolute monster. I won't say what unit it was in unless the poster wants it known, though I doubt he'll ever draw the tag again haha. Great buck, and congratulations to the hunter.

-
Amazing buck. That thing is awesome.
-
Congrats on the great buck! I bet that was a challenge to score!
-
Thanks everyone. By the way Scotty, he was facing to the right! :chuckle: He was by no means taken advantage of. Just a little more info. He is very, very massive as you can see. More than 48" of mass, with 25" on one side. His frame is about 203, and he is 27" outside. It is bigger than anything I could have hoped for or even dreamt of.
As far as the comment on orange or tag.....Not even going to justify it with an answer! :chuckle:
-
Awesome buck the state has definitely kicked out some 200" bucks this year.
-

Been some real brutes hitting the dirt this year. Great Buck
-
Good God, nice buck!
-
After having to pay $50 for one picture and another $50 to have a picture of me in it, I was authorized the opportunity of touching the horns of this buck :chuckle: all joking aside pictures due this buck no justice. Its a hell of a lot bigger in person  The character and mass of this buck is unbelievable!! Talk about an absolute monster of a buck!!!!
-
Frick an A that was here in Washington? damn nice buck grats.
What the hell he think he was a Moose damn!!!!
-
A tremendous buck Link. That's beyond once in a lifetime and what dreams are made of. Seen a buck like this in the late 70's but never got a shot and I still see it in my dreams. Great buck.
-

What the hell he think he was a Moose damn!!!!
What GMU? I'm guessing you had either a Desert GMU special permit, or a 4-0 Ranch special permit. Congrat's! That is by far the nicest buck I have seen shot in WA in my 36 years. I have seen a lot of nice one, but that buck has awesome character and mass. Definately not too many of those around in WA.
-
Link should get a booth at the sportsmans show. $20 a head to take a look, no touching
-
What a great deer! It always amazes me that those big boys can grow that much antler in a short period of time. Nice job Link.
Gadwall.
-
Congrats Matt, that's a hell of a nice buck.
-
Congratulations! What a monster!!!! :yike:  :yike:  :yike:
-
Awesome buck! Congratulations!!
-
Buck is truly amazing in person. Curious as to if anyone knows how much mass the heaviest buck ever killed in Washington had? This buck is probably in the running. The Washington record book and B&C only list the first mass measurement in their lists. You have to see the entire score sheet to know.
-
    congrats awesome buck!!!
-
Congrats on the buck. He is a stud. I figured he would go 220-230 on the hoof. Awesome buck
Romulus, I seen a buck killed recently that I believe has more mass than this one.
-
Cool, do you happen to know what the mass measurements were?
-
Guess I was wrong 47 3/8
-
Very nice Buck congrats.
-
 *censored* buck. Awesome job. Take him to the Sportsman's show and win yourself a new quad. That buck rocks
-
Woody, you may not be wrong. This was a green score so it will definitely shrink a bit in mass. Do you have any pics of the buck you are referring to? Was the 47 green or after drying period?
-
Wow, spectacular buck. He's got it all, size, mass, character . . . . . . .
-
very nice Muley
-
One sweet ass mulie, congrats.
-
:yike: :yike: :yike:

Congrats on the buck. He is a stud. I figured he would go 220-230 on the hoof. Awesome buck
Is this the buck you were telling me about? What a stud!
Congrats Link, now you should just stop hunting deer in this state because everything else you have an opportunity to harvest is just going to be a dink. :chuckle:
-

-
What a monster!!!!
-

-
Whats wierd about that? One of your good friends calls and tells you he shot a good buck, and you offer to drive three hours one way, just to come over and help pack out and join in the experience??? You wouldn't do that? :dunno:
Thanks again TGray! You know we have to work on getting you a big buck and me a big bull now! :chuckle:Couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy! Great Job link and thanks for letting me help with the pack out!
What a silly post. "Thanks for letting me help with the pack out". Weird.
. I'm not sure what's "weird" about that either link, maybe they have never left the road and don't know what it is like to cut a animal up and pack it 4-5 miles! Or they just want something to bitch about. Either way I don't really care I had a great time and would've drove 10 hours if I had too. And I'm not picky link, I would be happy with a 185" buck like you got last year.
-
Link and his 185" 2011 mule deer. I think you're getting the hang of it buddy
-
That's a freaks GREAT deer though....that I will say. Congrats and may The Lord be with you.
-
Great Buck! Once in a lifetime for sure!
-
I am speechless! Wow is about all I can say......
-
Was it a raffle tag buck?
-
Was it a raffle tag buck?

Not sure about the biggest, but this one killed by my great grandpa had 41" of mass. It was in the top ten when we had it entered.

Unreal! That's unbelievable, especially from Washington, although this has been a great deer year in Washington. That buck certainly takes the prize though.

Cant imagine having that on my wall, sipping whiskey and reliving the moment....
Well done sir...
-
Awesome buck.
-
WOW ..Good job  Did you shoot it in the eye ? Or was that from fighting ?
The eye was all closed up and full of puss. They eyeball itself still looked ok, but it had a big gash on the top of the eyelid and was closed. After I got home, I talked with some guys who had seen the buck a couple of weeks ago and had some pictures through their spotting scope. In the pics you can see he had a little 6" or so dropper that came off that mess of points on his right base. I assume he got his eye poked and that dropper broken off in a fight. I'm not complaining about missing 6" though! :chuckle:
-
Just plain awesome!!! nice job.

-
well done link
-
Great buck! Trophy of a lifetime. Well done brother!
-
What a beast! Congrats!
-
....So if I jump on I-90 it'll take me to the shed promise land?!!
Congrats link, on the buck of a hundred lifetimes.
-
Well done, congrats.
-
....So if I jump on I-90 it'll take me to the shed promise land?!!
Yep. Just head West!!
-
Im sure the sheds were picked up as soon as they hit the dirt so lets not all jump on I-90 and head east for any extra weekend adventures. That was the only 200" buck in the unit and now he is gone. Better head to yakima for sheds now.
Congrats to the hunter!! Glad to hear it was earned!!!
Sounds like the words of a guy who shed hunts and puts in the a Desert tag every year. :chuckle:
-
i was already planning on heading up I-90 for sheds this spring anyways. there may not be any more 200 inch shed sbut there are still a bunch up there too find and a lot of nice bucks. i was just up there a couple weeks ago flagging in the desert unit and had a real nice 4x4 pop up by the road about 100 yards away. id say 150-160 inch. the sheds are their like anywhere. just gotta hike. what makes the desert unit a better shed hunting spot is the fact that its draw only. but be prepared for competition. im dont doubt at all that the sheds from that buck werent picked up right after hitting the ground and he was probably watched until they were dropped. i just figured someone on here might have or know who has the sheds and could maybe post a pic. that is a dandy of a buck it will look great on the wall!
-
Maybe none of you have heard of boneworms. Little know fact that a single boneworm can eat up to 2 lbs of bone a day!!!! Recent studies from the local biologists have shown that that the boneworm population in the desert unit has multiplied significantly over the years. They estimate upwords of 50,000 of them in the 20 by 20 mile radius. With the growing numbers of boneworms in the desert no horn stands a chance of laying more than 2-3 minutes tops. Now if you have a good roping horse you might be able to pull off an antler or two but that is about your only chance anymore.
Hahahahahahahahaha! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
:yike:
Congrats on stud buck. Awesome mass and character!
-
Did you guys go to Bob's cafe that morning by chance? Or soon after?
