My brother-in law and I were hiking up the road in Musser/Mason creek thanksgiving morning and came to a spot where 5 different wolf tracks coming down the road towards us in the fresh snow had stopped and cut down over the bank. :bash: They must of heard us coming and bailed! Just as we were looking at the tracks 1 of the wolves started howling about 200-250 yards across the canyon from us. In no time there were 3-4 different wolves barking and howling. It was pretty open up there, but we still never did see them. But def. heard them. saw a couple deer but not a damn elk!!

I've heard of wolves being seen in the exact same area
That area will never be the same. :bash:

Ya and the crappy thing is that the elk winter not too far from that side!!!

My brother and I were hiking Hex Mountain this May with my 5 year old son. Near the top of the trail there was still a little snow on the ground. My son pointed out some tracks and said "Dad a BIG dog is up here". Upon taking a look, my brother and I knew that what we were looking at was a pack of wolves, BIG DOG tracks, it looked as is they were chasing something around. The tracks went in long swooping ovals spread out over probably 1,000 yards along tthe side of the ridge. Crazy. I HATE that their in there. Thats my favorite unit. :bash:

Thats too bad, from the information I've observed, there are wolf sightings from the border of the Yakima Res. all the way north. I really hope the 300 units aren't doomed to the fate of the north east.

last Saturday we were sitting inside watching tv at a cabin in easton on the Yakima river a friends dog was outside and just started barking his head off and acting funny and was at a dead stair across the property so my buddy got up and went outside to talk to his wife then he bangs on the window freaking out and sure enough there was a wolf trying to cross the Yakima river. then the next morning comes to find out they were on the island crossing back to the woods.

I had a encounter with the pack during muzzloader deer season this year, hunting was slow so when I heard a bull bugling I decided to see how close I could get in on the herd and while I was watching the bulls from above destroying a small tree branch at a time the herd busted out of the gully they were in like someone or something spooked em, I was down wind so didn't figure it was me and just about that time all heck broke loose with the creepest houling and sounds like never heard before, for around 30 seconds it lasted and couldn't have been more than 100 yards away from me it ended just like that, dead silent. Not sure what just happened I stood there thinking of all the possibilities and figured the best thing to do was get the heck out of there, then I realized why I hadn't seen any deer!
