I heard a rumor from Colville about a true monster, a potential state record that may have been shot a couple weeks ago or less. Rumor was high 190s to 203. Forgive me if this is common knowledge and has been posted about previously. Anybody?
-
my cousin has a friend, whos dad is a cop and he said that his friends dad, the cop, knows the uncle of the guy who shot it, says its confirmed and is a monster.
-
awesome first post
-
Never heard about it and I was over at Big R today in Colville and they would of mentioned it. Don't believe it without pictures and hard facts. I hear this stuff all the time about these monsters around Stevens and Ferry counties. :dunno: It's always a big rumor mill during hunting seasons.

You can get a good look at a butcher by putting your head up a bull's ....wait...is it the butcher or a Tbone? :dunno:
-
:bash: :boxin: This damn crap is like a record player that keeps skipping.....just keeps playing over and over and over!
-
Once again I posted this factual story originally... this buck has 19 scorable points and picture is posted at Les Schwab in Colville Wa

And supposedly you were gonna go by Schwabs to post a picture on here.
-
This is true and I apologize but had a family emergency and left for the coast literally took me 8 hours to get home
-
Im gonna do everyone a favor and look like the a$$. im gonna call les schwab in the morning and have someone send me a pic of this buck.. It will be posted by 0900 .. this is.my word

The recorded state record typical is 200 3/8 and the state record non-typical is 236 5/8. If there are any whitetail bucks bigger than that then I haven't seen them. The non-typical record would be much more likely to be surpassed than the typical.
-
I've found several sides to the the same buck that would challenge the state typical record had either side matched. Sad thing was, that together, they fall short. ;)

Yep...that is the tough part.
-
I've seen one that would easily surpass the record. Came inches from having him on film. It will haunt me forever. Spent $500 in gas headed to and fro to look for his sheds. NOTHING but a memory. Now all I can do is hope one of his kids shows up, and one might have this year.
-
:dunno: Its past 9.

Ok
-
That photo was passed all around by email of the dog humping the buck... not in WA! :chuckle:
-
Has to be California
-
I think the dog is from Cali....
-
Sparky bumpin' uglies with a deer was the best part of my day so far.............. :chuckle:
-
Awesome how many geniuses on the first page of responses have everything figured out.
Since that was my first post and I'm not burdened by the cliques and hilarious inside jokes on this blog, I asked a sincere question. My mistake. I have first-hand reports from guys at Clark's in Colville. Bearpaw should be able to confirm it, as should anyone at Clark's. They reportedly pulled a tooth from that deer.

Typical or non-typical? If it was typical and easily surpassed the record then it was likely a world record. I have definitely seen some giant typical frames from Stevens County. The thing that always hurts their net score is the non-typical points (not that I would care if I ever killed one of them).
-
Typical. I thought it would beat the hanson buck by a MILE. I was watching a pretty good sized whitetail. Rattled him in. Then all of a sudden I see this tree getting hammered, then I see bone, then he takes a swip at the "little" buck. Seems like I have photos of it on here. He had the dimensions of the one I posted this year but tines were about 12 inches longer each. SCARY BIG........
-
SOmetimes I wish it was easier to find threads on here.
-
I never expect to see anyting like him again
-
You have photos of the big guy on here?
-
SOmetimes I wish it was easier to find threads on here.
Can you please find the thread by 0900?
:chuckle:
-
No email sorry fellas.. I called again around 3:00 pm and no go... All I can say its a Non typical and very heavy.. The mass alone should knock out a few records sorry guys... my word isn't worth much until someone can get this picture
-
I keep... coming .. back to this... thread :). I've hunted alot in Stevens county. Wouldn't doubt if there were dozens of world class typicals nontypicals etc over the years. I do think alot of them die of old age before ever being seen by a hunter. Sometimes I'd wish all the trees and brush would disappear for a day or so just so I could see some of those ghosts lurking haha

I am back in town after hunting Montana for the last week. I have to drop off my truck for some badly needed work at the shop today and then maybe I will have time to check out this big buck story.
-
I'm sure theres plenty of big boys taken that we never lay eyes on . I hope bearpaw gets to the bottom of this one good luck.
-
go getm sparky, thats funny....cant wait to see the pic of this buck
-
I know the Mngr at Schwabs in Colville. His name is Kevin, call him up and ask him, problem solved.
-
Im pretty sure I saw a buck on the Schwab wall and it reminded me alot of an internet buck a couple years ago that got passed around and around as everyones local buck... Ive been trying to find that pic to confirm but Im prolly wrong...
-
I mounted a buck for a friend (not like sparky) a long time ago. He shot it almost in downtown Colville. Crazy thing with trash everywhere. Pre digital. I d have to find the pics
-

LOL
-
What are the records? About 200 for typ and 235 for non-typ?? (going off memory here)
Its amazing that anything in WA could even come close, but from what we've seen and heard, it could happen!!! I hope its one of you hard ass hunters on here that finds him!
-
Like Bone, I have seen one south of Stevens county. He was with a 140 class buck before the rut and absolutely dwarfed him. No sheds found after serious search. I was not close enough for a B&C guess. 170 is as high as I would guess for bucks around this year.
-
Is this the one?
-
Well, if it's not it's certainly worth looking at anyway... What a smoker!
-
Yikes!!! Wow!!!!!

I think Sparky should be the deer sections mascot..Thoughts ?

LOL
Thanks for the clarification Bone! :chuckle:
That is a great whitetail, could he be the one?
-
That is a dandy buck, BUT i don't think it's from washington. Looks like a orange tag taped to the horn :dunno: Since we don't have orange tags I doubt it's from here.
-
Well, that buck would be in league with the little buck that got ran out of town by the big buck, so I doubt thats the big one, and as stated.....i think orange is wisconsin tag maybe......
-
idk guys i put my tags on with orange lathe myself, i make damn sure it dont fall off
-
nope, a guy in M.L. shot him during the late hunt. "North of Spokane".
-
That buck isn't going to break any records. Nice buck though
-
Course an oragne christmas tree permit is about 10 bucks compared to a 200 dollar deer tag in this state, so get some black electrical tape and tape it on good, maybe the game warden won't bother ya :chuckle:
-
I know this doesn't mean much... But I tried to zoom in on the plate of the truck in the first pic... Looks like maybe the state starts with a W... But not WA colored... I'm not very good though... :dunno: Don't really know who would come from much farther then ID or OR to hunt WA imo...
-
ok bone i see what your lookn at, definatly a differant color tag, maybe its in one of those protective sleeves....wow what a stud buck, sure would like to know the story behind that pig...

:yeah:That's what happened. The deer's rack was so big that he tagged it with a Christmas tree tag.... :chuckle:

I passed through Colville today and stopped by les Schwab's. They already took down all the photos but I asked the lady(so take this with a grain of salt) if they had a picture of a record caliber buck and she said one didn't come to mind. So then I drove over to Clark's. I asked the guy there the same question. He said there was a big one taken there during the late rifle. Asked if he had a picture of it...turns out he did. Showed me a picture of the buck posted above(not the same picture, but same buck). I pulled up this thread and did a side by side comparison with the picture on this post and the picture he had, it was def the same buck. The guy acted like he knew what he was talking about. He said he thought it would gross in the high 190's.
-

Wisconsin tags are white. ;)
-
To me the orange looks like a tag/license holder like this one... :dunno:
-
"190's Gross" looks about right. I love the mass. I have some sheds from Stevens Co. that look alot like that set.
-
Thank you for obtaining the pic:) ive tried ans tried to get the pic but was unable to...
-
Is this the one?
That is a giant!
-
Curious whether it was taken on private or public.
-

Very good friend shot a buck near identical to that about 20 years ago Just north of Colville. It scored 172 after deductions.
-
I hesitate getting into any scoring debates and the flexi tape around here. Nice buck but far from Superbuck(score wise). I bet I saw 5 bucks this fall bigger than him alone(whities). They don't stand around and ask for autographs though. Don't take my post as negative. That is a beautiful buck and I would be happy as all get out to have tagged it.
-
D.B., I'm not sure if it was public or private.... Although I would guess private. All I know is the guy who shot him is my daughters' neighbor in Moses. She sent me the pics, and he's definitely a keeper! :twocents:
-
Here is a Stevens County buck from a couple years ago.Scored around 170

Theirs not to many people id believe that statement from, I would feel very accomplished if i saw 5 deer of that caliber in WA in one season
-

The main frame looks around 170.... but then it has double 3rds and one double 4th....
how can it only go 170? is the pic making it look bigger than it is?

The hunter scored it when he got home and told me "in the 170's"

:yeah:
I have no doubt Bone's words are true....and impressive..I spend roughly 400 hours a year in the field scouting for whitetail in addition to 20+ cameras sitting over licking branches, minerals and feed in four different counties and in various locations within those counties... My personal best is knowing the location of 3-4 180+ bucks in a season... and that doesn't happen every year.

Somewhere in the 170's looks about right to me on that picture you posted.
-
If I had any sand, I'd go try to film tomorrow. My luck I'd drive for 5 hours and be in fog all day and be able to see 20 feet at best.
-
This buck was killed by Lonnie Hart of Moses Lake. Clark All Sports pulled a tooth and apparently the buck was aged at 6 1/2

Was there a pic i missed? :chuckle: :dunno:

On page 4
-
I don't care what anybody says, thats a great buck!
-
I'm not like DB, I can't pass on those big ones! :chuckle:
-
I know Lonnie. He has killed a few nice bucks in Stevens county. I have not layed eyes on this buck in person, but it looks like a dandy.
-
The only reason anyone should pass up that buck is if theres a bigger one right behind him!!
-
Speaking of Les Schwab buck stories....
google "Afton, Wyoming Big O Tires facebook". go to their facebook pictures page of the Big Buck Contest they have every year. Frickin nuts.
This year I blew a trailor tire in the area and stopped by to have it fixed. They got some Real wall hangers. The owner was telling me he had over 30 bucks 200" plus this year.
They have a 41" wide buck from a couple years ago (no stickers...frame).
Sorry for the thread jack..couldn't help it.
-
come on bone where's the film ?

Just checked it out..some awesome bucks!
-
Holly smokes there are some unbelievable bucks up on there, but holly LONG ARM. Must be part of the protocol.
-
no kidding..."Long Arm" must of been part of the theme.
However, 30 bucks, 1/2 way thru the fall over 200".....Awesome. He said a majority of the bucks came from within 15 miles of the store. However, you get to the high country in a hurry. (15 miles as the crow flies, is about an 1.5hr drive to start hiking 10 miles :P)
