Awesome buck yet they still felt the need to extreme long arm it.   :dunno:  I'm surprised the guy didn't sit 10 feet back and hold it up with a stick.  :bash:

Wow! 276!? Not questioning it, but what a frame that thing must have. There isn't a whole lot of visible junk on that monster, maybe 30-40".

Doesn't look long armed to me, looks like they just know how to take a great photo including both hunter and guide, while not interfering with the animals ginormous rack. Great deer congrats to the hunter.

Nice Buck!!!! 276"  :dunno: :dunno: I thought that was the number of the unit?  Anyway still a monster!!!  I agree with Polar why longarming such a beast!

I pulled the info off of an email I got and all I know is the area (canyon) had not been hunted in a long time.  I want to see the specs on the buck for typical and non typical.  It makes me think about moving to a sunny area called Mexico.

Not long armed? The guy is sitting at the back end of the deer and holding the horns with his arm fully extended.  Still a monster deer and its definitely looks well Over 200 but 276 may be a stretch. It is just a picture and you can be fooled, for all I know the picture may make it look small. Great deer and picture though.

I have to agree with you on this. First thing I thought was that the only way to get both of them in the photo without the antlers covering their faces was for the guy on the right to sit back. Great buck and great photo!

"Long arming" is such an offensive term.  Out of consideration for those of us with 32" draw lengths, the politically correct term is "Distortion via foreshortening".  Thank you for your consideration  :chuckle:

Now clearly, this guy isn't foreshortening that deer.  He's just an  unfortunate soul who's left arm happens to be 1/4 the length of his right arm.

Oh and by the way I think they are sitting the way they are sitting so as to not interfere with the view of the antlers. I don't see any a long Arming.
Given the recent theme on here I am not surprised somebody complained about it though.

Just money alone can't even buy that buck, it also takes lots of luck to anchor something in that category.

Long arming, I think not!  I look at the proportion of the head of the animal to the body of the person behind it, and in this case I see a great proportionate photo of all. :twocents:

I guess two guys sitting on either side of a deer (yes one is behind the deer) and one holding the head up is considered longarming... learn something new everyday. That buck does have an amazing main frame to him, and mass galore. Usually those sonora bucks arent all that impressive to me. I believe this one qualifies as impressive!

I love all the critics on this site. Whether its long arming, not wearing orange, not using the right caliber, etc.  :bdid:

I love the pic. Just shows off the deer and hunters smiles. Awesome buck.

It almost looks like the hind quarters are gone. Like it's just the front half of the deer.   :dunno:

HOG buck!  Be interesting to see if it is high fence?  Lots of fences and deer growing in Sonora right now - also, an "early" mule deer hunt in Sonora is mid-late December.  The majority of hunting takes place in January down there, during the rut.

Maybe you ponder this, since you do a lot of huntin and not a lot of gettin.

Wow, awesome buck!  I usually refer to desert muleys as sombrero bucks, because they are big, wide and thin.  But that one has the mass to go with it!

My understanding is that the rut in the desert is in late December/January because then the fawns drop during the summer after the monsoons have started, the desert greens up and there is water/food available.  They also don't need to worry about snow and winterkill like our deer up here.  If our rut was later, the fawns would only have a couple months to grow before the winter kicks in.
