The duck was riddled with worms.. I remember a post here not to long ago about a deer having worms as well.... :bash:

You have to eat that if you get one :yike: :puke: I guess that is why I have a dog :chuckle:

Don't let the dog eat it. Thats how it spreads. Burn the whole duck and throw the ashes in the Trash

Rice breast is nothing new. :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle:

:yeah: Exactly! Nothing new about deer or elk with worms. I would say common as these (or most) parasites have been here all along and in most case our wildlife has evolved to deal with. Just nature at work.

I was not aware of rice breast until this year. I opened up a fat green head and the breasts were riddled with the little parasites. That duck did not get eaten.

I shoot 15 birds a year with rice breast. Been that way for the last 6 years.

Now you're going to get bashed on by all the perfect, ethical people on here

I had never heard of before.
-
Ok, I will say it. I have cut out infected areas and eaten the other portion.
Cooking kills this parasite.
Many many guys have eaten a whole lot of this parasite in the past with no ill effect.
One more reason I like to skin and not pluck my waterfowl.

Maybe not. He kept it from spreading. :0)

Nuthin wrong with a little extra protein in the mix.

You can eat it, however most choose not to. In the birds I have found the parasite in, I could not cut the bad parts out. I choose not to eat it in my birds but they make excellent crab bait.

I haven't plucked many ducks in the last twenty years either. We talked about this parasite in a Wildlife Ecology class back in 1985, it's been around a while.

Cooking kills it. So does the freezer until garbage day. :twocents:
