Title: Best time to make a trip to the Hills to find some bone??
Post by: Mark B on December 04, 2012, 07:08:06 PM: When???.. I've found some antlers where i hunt and I know the deer usually let the Bone go in there "Wintering ground".. Where should I start?? Any help is Highly Appreciated.. I want some Antler!!! Thanks guys!!

Post by: DoubleJ on December 04, 2012, 07:10:29 PM: I don't shed hunt but, I think the consensus around here is it's best to wait until mid spring or later to let the animals rest and use their energy on getting through the winter instead of avoiding you.

Post by: bobcat on December 04, 2012, 07:21:30 PM: I'm going to start looking around here towards the latter part of February, and through April. But this will be for blacktail deer and snow won't be a concern.

Post by: Southpole on January 04, 2013, 12:05:22 PM: I start finding whitetail sheds now, but only because I have a hay pile on my own property. Other wise I have to wait until the snow clears out in April to look beyond that, but that's up 3500ft. I would suspect a guy can start down lower where the snow may not be an issue and I'm only talking about whitetail. I would like to know if anyone actually hikes in the snow (not around a feeding station) and is successful in finding sheds? Hope this question isn't considered thread jacking. :sry:
