I have heard it is best to order straight from foxpro's website and that way you can choose what calls are on it. I think they also have a refurbished site somewhere that has them cheaper. Not sure what the site is though. Good luck.

If you go to the all predator calls website they have them. They will do the sounds you want as well, they are a big foxpro dealer and have always treated me good.

Call Fox pro direct 1-866-463-6977
great people to work with you can pick your own sounds and if you go to their site you can print off a list of all sounds available to choose from

I agree 100%. That being said, the firestorm is sweet. Fox pro's higher end calls are hard to beat.

LOL- I bought a really cheep foxpro call and it had a few calls on it but no remote. I borrowed it to a cousin while in North Dakota last year and forgot to get it back when I left. I switched to hand calls on the few hunts after that and doubled my success. I think half the trouble was no remote and too much movement along with the repetitive same sound. I'm not sure but I do like the hand calls better so far.

I like the performance of my firestorm.  A few things that I have learned from experiences using the call

1.  Only use the front speaker.  Using both speakers draws the batteries down much faster.  I don't believe there is any advantage to using both speakers.
2.  Test your sound files on both front and back.  I found a few of the files sound were slightly distorted on one speaker and clearer on another.
3.  The camo paint on the unit wears off in about 6 months.
4.  Tie some type of lanyard or D-ring hook.  This is to hang the call in a tree.  Sound broadcasts better.
5.  If you are hunting cougar or want an uncomfortably close encounter with one get the "Elk Calf Distress" sound file.
6.  My favorite and inital go to sound file for hunting coyotes/predator is "Lightening Jack"  and "Cottontail Distress"  "Fox Pup Distress".  "Challenge Howl" has varible results but when it works coyotes come running in like a freight train.
7. Put the remote controller on a lanyard (better that purchasing a new one after losing one)
8. I have the default "Fox Bang" feature on and set with the "Coyote Pup Distress" sound file.  A warning however if you bump the hand controller hard enough it will active the "Fox Bang" feature.
9. Good luck.

Works off the remote.  It senses the gunshot.  Like Ken said, you have to avoid bumping the remote against someting or you will set off the "foxbang" function.

hmmm, that would be another way to get it to go off when you need it, just bang the remote

Depending on the call you have programmed into the Foxbang, it might not hurt anything even if it goes off by accident.  Like most people, I have it programmed to "pup distress", so even if it gets bumped, no biggie!  Mine gets bumped frequently when the remote slips off my leg and hits the ground.  :chuckle:

Fox pro owners don't forget all the free sounds available on their site. i.e coyote KiYI

Foxpro needs to put a section in their owner's manual titled "How to Remove the Micro SD Card from Your Unit", something I've never figured out how to do without breaking something.  With my luck I'd screw it up so badly it would never work again.  But then, my Foxpro came with 50 sounds anyway, and I don't think I've heard them all yet.

I have had mine two years and have not experienced the paint issue? I use both speakers but, I have the FOXPRO batteries and they don't run down I have ran it as much as 20 stands in one day with no battery issues. You are right about the fox bang that has screwed me over before.

has anyone ran lithium batteries in the foxpro? do you know if they work out a whole lot better. i have used them in other things in the winter and seems they do last longer.

I run the Enrgizer Rechargeables in my foxpro and they seem to last a long time.  I keep a full set of them in my pack, just in case I need them, but never have.  Mine takes 8 AA batteries in the holder.  Buying coppertops gets expensive after a while.  Litium Ions would last longer, but are really expensive, and I don't think it's worth it.  :twocents:

Just spend the little extra and get the FOXPRO rechargeable you will not be disappointed.

I have 24 energizer high capacity rechargeable's that I use in my e-caller.  They are not the normal 700-800 mAh rechargeable batteries that you can get.  They are actually rated to 2650 mAh, and they last forever.  I keep a spare set of 12 charged and one me when I am out in the field, but I have yet to need to swap them out.  Even when charged and let set, they retain about 90% of their original charge for up to a year.  I just happened to have them from a few years of battery buying for flashlights and such.

I think they actually last longer than the lithium batteries, and the nice thing is that they are rechargeable.  They cost about the same as the lithium batteries too.  I think all the major battery makers are making a high-cap AA battery now, just make sure that they are over 2200 mAh.

On the other hand, for what you will pay for high-cap rechargeable, you can go to Costco and get 4 48pks of AA's... That would be a total of 17 battery swaps for me... Which would probably take me well over 2 years, if not longer.  I think in the end, not matter what you go with, just take spares with you, because no matter how high tech and awesome the batteries you have are, they will fail right about the time you have 4 dogs just outside of your max range refusing to come closer without coaxing... So you can watch your first potential quad turn and high tail it out of there...

where would you get high capacities  or was it there at cosco?  what company are they made by?

I have ones made by energizer, but I believe both companies make them. You can get the just about anywhere you can get batteries, just making sure they are the 2200+ mAh.. Can also get them on amazon. I think I got all mine from target actually. The energizer are are 2450mAh I believe, and it's marked right on the packaging.

Might also look at Costco for eneloops, as far as rechargeable batteries go they are also some of the best.

Probably sent while sitting on the ferry... While using Tapatalk 2
