hey guys, just got home. got my lil bro a bear today. we started off at the spot i got my bear on sunday, stayed there until about 11 but only saw deer.then went to another spot they have been hanging out. we weren't there for 2 minutes when i spotted this bear making his way through the berry bushes. he was about 200 yards away. the only problem was he kept on disappearing. my brother was about 20 feet from me up on a log pile but he couldn't ever get a clear shot. this will probably be the last year we hunt this spot cause it is soo overgrown. he told me to shoot it if i had the chance. so this went on for about 5 minutes which seemed like an hour. finally he got into an opening and if i didn't shoot him now he was gone. so i squeezed and my trigger stopped, the safety was on :P. rite after i pulled, my brother shot and through my scope i could tell he nailed him. we got down there and he got him in the heart, only went about 15 feet. this was around 1pm. he measured out at almost 6 feet. he had a been eating all blackberries. the first pic is of my bear on sunday and the second is my brothers bear today.

Post by: winston2789 on September 14, 2008, 12:13:09 PM: well we went out Saturday morning and sat in a nice clear cut with a lot of berries until about 12. we didn't see anything there so we decided to drive around and look for more fresh sign. after not much luck we drove back around the first area where we have found the most amount of scat and berries. at about 4 pm we were driving past an area and my cousin spotted this bear standing in a clear cut about 250 yards away. i handed him my 7mm (his gun was in the back under everthing :bash: ) and he got a rest on a stump. my cousins first shot looked like he got him good but he was still standing running uphill so he fired one more and the bear disappeared into the timber. we got up there and he didn't go far, maybe 20 feet. it turns out he hit him on the first shot, double lunged him and got a piece of the heart. those new winchester XP3's rock! we got lucky again with another pack down hill. looks like its time to do some deer scouting.
