So my annual late Muzzleloader hunt with my father-in-law this year didnt turn up many shooters.I just tag along to take pictures, and hopefully pack something out. in 4 days of hunting the oaks we seen one legal buck, which my bro-in-law missed. Decent buck, but deer numbers were really down. We normally see 50-60 deer a day and this year we were seeing only about 20-25 it was alot tougher hunting. Love the hunt, the oaks are beautiful. thought I would post pictures from the hunt.

Nice pics. Seems like deer numbers have been down the last couple years down there.

Looked like my turf :chuckle: The last 3 years have been a huge downslide in deer populations. We used to winter 3-400 deer on our place probably more way back when. I would be lucky if there is 75 deer on our place right now. Last year I found 13 dead deer in the late season and cut cat tracks almost everyday in the snow. Pretty sad!!!!

That's what we have seen. Two years ago when the big snow hit during muzzy season we saw two deer on the land I hunt. And they were both reduced to leg bones and rib cages by coyotes. And all we cut were coyote tracks that day there

my father-in-law did blast a coyote that was pretty funny :chuckle: but not funny that the coyotes and cats are working that area. I was wondering what might cause the decline, last year he tagged out 30 minutes into the first day so we didnt really see how many deer were in the area.
