Got a gift card for Cabelas said screw it and just ordered the mountain pants and 1/2 zip hoodie from Sitka I have heard nothing but good things about them except the price any imput on durability would be great
-
I have the Mountain pants and love them. They are a much better fit (athletic fit) than the KUIU that I have and seem to be holding up well. Considering another pair of these.
-
Seems to be top notch stuff, but man it will make you pucker at the checkout
-
Great stuff. I've worn it for the last 4 years with no complaints. From early muzzy hunts in WA to September Wyoming High Country, late November hunts in Montana, Idaho, and Colorado.
-
Jjhunter those are some nice deer.
-
Federal Way Wholesale Sports had all their Sitka 30% off. Had some Jetstream jackets, Ascent pants, 90% jackets and some Kelvin jackets.
-
Yea that stuff seems to make a person shoot a bigger animals for sure. What happened to the good ol days of wool pants and rubber rain gear!! :chuckle:
-
Kinda like, "Where were all the 'internet' experts before the internet???" :chuckle:
-
so how would the 90% jacket do in december-feb weather with just a core crew t-shirt, 1/4 zip longsleeve, and some sort of vest?

They were sitting in the archery shops drinking coffee all day. :chuckle:
I like Sitka gear, but have never paid full price. The stuff always goes on sale in Jan-Feb right before they come out with the nexts years new pattern. ;)

When I am active, I wear a core 1/4 zip t , a traverse 1/4 zip t and either a jetstream vest or a celcius vest. This keep me at just the right temp and I can adjust my "core temp" by zipping/unzipping the trio. I don't even wear my 90% jacket anymore as I prefer the Jetstream if I need a jacket.
-
In the 4th pic down, it was about 18 degrees when I killed that deer and I am wearing the traverse and core zip t's and a jetstream vest. The wind wasn't blowing and the sun was warm, so that has an effect too.
I really only wear a jacket when I sit down to glass, it's super cold, and the wind is howling (seems to be always blowing in November!) :chuckle:

Im just wondering because im only going to be able to afford 1 jacket to do all. And the 90% is about the price limit.
-
great post. I was also going to post but since somebody best me to it I'll add on. My lovely wife bought me the core base set, extra core shirt, traverse zip shirt, med weight traverse base layer plus hat and gloves. I tried on today the mountain, 90 percent, 90 percent pant lite with suspenders, ascent pants. I was leaning toward mountain or 90 percent. Which one to buy? for those that have the mountain are the built in knee pads an added benefit. I'm in Idaho as mentioned sportsmen having a sale. was going to pick up something. I mainly do early archery hunts. Other thoughts ?

I have the mt pants and the knee pads and they are removable. So best of both worlds. I love my mt pants. I wouldnt go to the 90% . If i did anything it would be the timberline pant, but it is not necessary for just the waterproof butt and knees in my opinion.
-
overall 90% better choice, I assume these are early to mid season pant.
-
I've got one pair of ascent 4 pairs of 90 percent and one pair of timberline. The ascent I rarely wear, but they are nice for september bow hunts. The 90 are most versatile (like the name) and I wear these most often. If it is super cold and snow on the ground, the waterproof butt and knees of the timberline are tough to beat. They are also a little heavier than the 90 percent. Combine the timberline and the traverse bottom and you can brave some COLD weather.

Now the question is what size are you and when will you sell me a pair of the 90% pants :chuckle:

My little brother has managed to outfit himself out of my closet....ha ha.
I was still hunting in cotton at your age. You're doing okay!
-
I have mountain pants and 90% jacket. With good layering ( merino base and traverse or similar mid. I am confident that I would he warm in most conditions. Other than a late season treestand sit. I went with mountain pants over 90% because I felt like the 90% would be too warm with base layer in October.

I have 90% pants & Jacket, Mt Pants and Kuiu attack pants. Probably wear my Mt Pants the most, love the built in belt and knee pads, they fit awesome. Wear my Kuiu alot also. 90% the least out of the 3. I have kuiu guide jacket and now wear it more than the 90% jacket. The kuiu sizing has been off for me alittle, have had to send back numerous items to get different sizes, where the sitka stuff has always been the same fit. You cant go wrong with any of it.
Get it all! :chuckle:
