Title: my cow came home early
Post by: yajsab on September 11, 2008, 01:18:41 PM
Well, How's everyone's hunting goes on first week?

It didn't take me long for the cow to come home.   :chuckle:  To make a very very long story short, I got mine at first light (6:30).  Here she is.

Edited: per respond, I've taken down the pic.  Sorry.

Edite2: Ok, per the voting I'm putting it back up.

No, 4 arrows.  Yeap, she was one tough cow!  First arrow got one lung through her stomach and stuck in one leg.  I waited and got to her around 3 pm.  She was still standing but can't move.  That 3 arrows on the pic were to take her down.  Toughest one I ever shot.  I felt bad.   :'(

Yowser, pretty graphic pic for a public forum...

Congrats on the successful hunt, though.
I once gut-shot a doe and had to do a finishing shot...I'll never forget that aweful feeling of guilt.

Enjoy her!

Sorry bout that.  I know this is public, but we're (mostly) hunters.

Can you put the picture back up so I can see it. I really dont care what the Pollyanna's think about.  Thats what happens when you go out in the woods with the goal of killing something.  If you don't like it go away.

Congrats on the KILL by the way.

Sure put it back up, the antis will need it for when they come after bowhunting.    :bdid: :bash:  I love photos of animals harvested, absolutely nothing wrong though with dressing up our photos for a public forum.  I did not see the photo, but I'm assuming the cow looks like a pin cushion?  It's not needed on here, you can remove the arrows and still proudly dsiplay your harvested animal.   :twocents:

Congrats on the cow!

Nice work on the hunt!  The photo doesn't bother many of us, but the antis might think it's a good example to show how cruel all of us bow hunters are...  :'(

Makes for a quick season at 6:30 opeing day...better hope the wife doesn't put you to work now!   :chuckle:

Nice job!

First congrats on the cow!  It happens to all of us eventually and I want to congradulate you on keeping up the work and making sure she was finished...  Better to put two or three arrows in here than to think that one or two is good enough and she suffers more....

I vote for putting it back up... if the antis need graphic pictures of kills, I'm sure there's plenty on the net for them to choose from... so who cares???

Way to go, getting your elk!

I pin-cushioned one once. Spined it and it fell in front of me. Kept trying to get up so I kept sending arrows. All good hits, but hey, another hole is just good insurance. Nock it up and let it fly. It's just what you do to make a humane kill given the opportunity.

I don't believe in giving the anti's ammunition, so use your judgement. We know what reality is.

wow, been there. To make a long story short, I had to go in Rambo style once to put a elk down..... not pretty.

Congrats on the kill, but please use your best judgement on posting the pic. We all know what happens and sometimes it ain't pretty. Field photos should be tastefull in my opinion. I spend just as much time trying to clean up blood and putting the tongue back in as I do in composing and clearing obstacles from the frame.

I was expecting something way worse. Thats part of bow hunting as far as I'm concerned.  He followed WDFW regulations.  Whats not to like?  First shot was right on the money.

Nice job on staying on your cow.

Not as bad as I thought either, but I still would have pulled the arrows for some pictures to post. It only takes a second to remove them digitally as well.

I've done the same thing. I really try to clean them up for a good pic but my daughters 1st deer looked horrible and my first bear wasn't the greatest pic either.

Congrats to you.  :IBCOOL:
