My cousin sent me these this morning, these are the comments:
The hunter was Dan Agnew from Vancouver.
The bull is a 9x10, with a green score of 450” plus.
It will be the new WA state record.
-
i still cant believe how big that bull is. But i think you may have just opened up a huge can of worms. refer to elk rumors and you will find out why.
-
What an awesome animal....dang that's a passel of guys with the "hunter".
-
What is that rifle...........a Sendero with a muzzle break? A few of the guys helping might have some ringing ears.
Anyway, that is a nice pic and monster bull.
-
weatherby accumark 30-378 or 338-378
-
He can afford it. He is the COO of Mt Hood Beverage based in Portland.
-
I have a question. Since he is rifle hunting is their a requirement for hunter orange, or does that only apply for official firearm seasons? :dunno:
-
Im sure he took it off for the photo  :chuckle:

Hunter Orange Requirements
1.Under the following conditions a minimum of 400 square inches
of fluorescent hunter orange exterior clothing is required. It must
be worn above the waist and be visible from all sides. A hat, by
itself, does not meet this requirement.
Anyone hunting deer or elk in an area currently open to modern
firearm deer or elk hunting is required to wear fluorescent hunter
orange clothing. This includes archers and muzzleloaders while
hunting in units which overlap modern firearm seasons.
Anyone hunting in an area that is open for modern firearm deer
or elk hunting must meet hunter orange requirements if they are
hunting any of the following species: Bear, Bobcat, Cougar, Coyote,
Deer, Elk, Fox, Grouse, Hare, Rabbit, or Raccoon.
2.
During any upland game bird season, anyone hunting upland game
birds or rabbits with a modern firearm is required to wear fluorescent
hunter orange clothing. (Grouse are not upland game birds.)
Hunter Orange Clothing
Not Required
During an upland game bird season, anyone hunting upland
game birds with a muzzleloading firearm, bow and arrow, or
falconry is not required to wear fluorescent hunter orange
clothing.
While hunting in a muzzleloading or archery only GMU, anyone
possessing a valid muzzleloading or archery deer or elk tag is
not required to wear fluorescent hunter orange clothing.

Is that the mossback crew. :chuckle:

HAHA!!! Wouldn't we all like to know... lol
Michael
-
Anybody know where he got it? And I know it was the blues. I mean unit?
-
this bulls gonna be non-typical record im guessing?
-
I hesitate to post anything about elk for awhile..lol, but the bull was taken in the Wenaha Wilderness.
-
you know if the guy payed 65k for the tag, you know he can afford a ticket for not wearing orange
-
With these Highest bidder tags, isnt the entire state now open to modern rifle hunting, requiring bow hunters to wear orange? :dunno: :chuckle:
-
Just a monster... Plane and simple!!!
-
What a stud bull.
-
I'm happy for the guy. Great bull.
-
BL is going to shoot a bigger one with his bow! :brew: :llam: :cmp1: :whoo:
-
I wish he was stil alive, I'd love to get my hands on those sheds!!! Oh well, I'm sure that big old monster pasted on some good genetics to others.
-
I'm happy for the guy. Great bull.
+1
-
Good for him ... he hunted it fair and square! besides no one said a word last year when Riechert shot a puny little 387 with the gov. tag and a 355 with his permit!
-
i need a someone to show me the ropes(my first time hunting). that is why i ask how much the charge for a hunt?

$65,000 for the tag and $12,000 for guide fee.
-
nevermind, i'll go to cabelas or sportmens warehouse.
-
records are meant to be broke. and money cant buy you love, but it can buy you happiness. congratulations to the bull he deserves the credit .
-
You know what gives me the most pleasure? Is that in a few years, when looking at the record books, what is going to be your first thought? I know for damn sure mine is going to be "Man! That was one legendary bull and I'm glad I got to be there for it all!"
It sure as HELL won't be "Man, that was one lucky SOB who put in a lot of miles and earned that bull!"
That bull will go down in the record books because of his awesome genetics and legend status, the "hunter" sure as hell won't be remembered and I'm sure most people won't even remember the dudes name.... 8) ;) :IBCOOL:
Michael
-
what a massive bull.
all things aside no matter how he got it or how much he paid thats pretty freakin cool.
and yeah records are made to be broken.
-
A modern hunt in September in WA????????
-
Yep.......auction tag went for $65,000.
-
What a beast of an animal, thanks for sharing, that is unbelievable.
-
I think its great that he got it, who cares about the hunters orange. he could have taken it off for the pic I always do. The cool part is the genetics are in that area. I still cant believe it was shot in Washington.
-
I had several pics sent to me by one of the fellas early after the hunt. I knew he had the opportunity to 'be there'. Not sure it's right to take anything away from those that chose to participate in the experience. Certainly won't hold it against the tag holder. Helps create dreams for some of us :chuckle: :dunno: Probably should congratulate all for being there. Had to be a kick. OK, I'd rather it had been me :'( :chuckle: Maybe I should start playing the lotto :dunno:

Honestly thats my opinion too... I sure don't take anything away from the 'GUIDES' that participated in this hunt. No DOUBT they worked THEIR ASS OFF to find this bull and even keep tabs on. Hell I've lost bucks on a centralized WINTER RANGE from week to week. For them to pin point this bulls movement is an accomplishment. Am I goin to congradulate them? Nope... but do I have less respect for them? Hell no... It all comes down to what the hunter wants, and if he wants to shoot a bull thats been 'sat' on, then he's going to do it. No matter for the boys who located it.
Michael

Ya great bull. He and his small army beat out a 12 year old with muzzy tag.
Good job. More info on details of the "HUNT" to come out down the trail.
-
I guess technically, he was done hunting anyway...(about the hunter orange)...just playing devils advocate.
Nice bull...I would rather have the 65K though...
-
Just got home from a 5 day weekend at Sun Banks and had these pics sent to me by a friend, not sure if they have been posted somewhere else so I will delete it if someone replys. I guess the first couple are of the bull the day before. I guess they are calling it the BirdBath Bull :dunno:
-
I heard they were calling it the "Pocket Book Bull" :dunno: :chuckle: That thing is a stud. Eat it up Utards!!! :chuckle: :chuckle:
MS

LOL :lol4:
-
:chuckle:
-
:chuckle: I like it. The "big" PBB.
-
that thing was shot, not hunted. A real hunter downing a cow or spike is more of a trophy than that. IMO
-
I heard from a local resident (pomeroy area) that he hired 7 different guides , and that he flew into walla walla the day of the hunt ( in his private jet ) and then after an 1 hour hunt, flew out 3 hours later . some hunt

I love this thread... DO NOT LOCK IT.

It would truly be nice is some Joe Schmoe type guy nailed that. How awesome would it be to be packing that back to your single wide trailer, knowing damn well you have not one wall in the place that could support that rack...
I wish I had that problem
-
Atleast he has help 2 get that monster out! 2 men just 4 the rack.....yummy!! I would do it by myself just to get a crack at that one..
-
Interesting, that pic says 9-02-2008 so thats september 2nd of 2008.... last time I checked that would only be open for archery deer.............

The auction tag opens September 1 I do believe.
I got pics of this bull in an e-mail last week and it said it came from Utah :chuckle:
-
must be nice to have that kind of cash then......... but thats a monster bull no doubt.....
-
a guy on the campfire said it best, "when it's good enough for the boone and crocket club, I will believe it". I can't find a thing wrong with that response.

Now that was funny! And I don't care how many pages are posted on this subject. Governor's tags are not for me and I could care less how much neg pub they get.
