Just got my 14 points back... Got a letter today restoring my Quality elk points... I am now officialy stoked...
They sent me a readout with all my points on it, and i have points in every catagory... Looks like when i turn 65, if i make it there i will have 12 points. Kind of a weird print out.
I know you don't hear this much but thank you WDFW. And now i know you don't hate me...

That's cool. I have been cheering you on to get them back and believe there is no excuse for you not to.

Please explain to me how you managed to get them back. I drew a cow tag in an area I know very well, which is private. I got written permission to hunt several months before the season. The land owners submit damage claims to the game department. Come the day before the season I was notified my permission was revolked, because the game department awarded the land owners elk tags. They wanted to keep it for themselves. I ended up not being able to hunt. I complained and asked for my points back. I was told tuff.

What hunt choice?

Good to hear they were able to apply logic to a situation without making a round peg fit into a square hole like many bureaucrats will try. Good job WDFW!

So, when they kicked me out of my hunting area... Mt Adams wilderness hunt (the forest service closed the wilderness), my permit was only good in the Wilderness portion of the lewis river unit, wich they closed completely. I called olympia the day it was closed down, it was a quality elk hunt and was shut completely down. Due to the cascade creek fire.
When i called they took my hunt number, my wild ID number and said they would be making case by case determinations on restoration of points. They game me no hope or determining factors when i gave them my info, just we will decide at the end of the season. I didn't bother them, or call and ask questions because i figured they were busy doing there jobs. I got a letter yesterday stating my quality elk points had been restored.

Good job. I got points reinstated on a Marble hunt years ago when they had the shut down zone from increased St Helens activity. At first they said pound sand. I worked on them,.....got my points in the end.
-
Glad to hear it Chris. Good luck in the draw next year

Looks like it is east side only for me from here on out. Well untill I draw my points back to zero.

 good for you!

Good for you.
When I had my late permit buck's antlers cut off the head in the back of my rig WDFW said they were going to try to get my points back for me but it never happened, I'm glad they followed through for you, very cool.

Glad to see them step up for you.

I don't want to jack the thread but yes, I think it was 02, I had the top of the skull capped in the carrier of my Excursion while dragging out the bottom half. It was not a good day, especially after waiting for years to finally get the permit.
-
Very good news, it was the right thing for the WDFW to do.
-
Awesome! ;)
-
Congrats. Now it will just take 17 more years for you to draw a quality permit. :o
-
Im verry happy for you great job getting the points back.. My only question is do you still get to go kill a cow with your other permit? Or did they take that away?
-
Yep i still keep my cow permit... They restored my quality elk points. I still have a cow permit.
-
Awesome go kill some cows. That will be fun with the boy.
