A little back story first....
I went on vacation for a week at the beginning of December, and while I was away, my freezer went out. I came home to a trail of bloody slime oozing out all over my garage floor. :bash: :puke: The damage tally:
1/4 a beef we had just bought, hadn't even had any yet.
2 halibut.
15 or so ling cod.
26 trout, the smallest of which was 13 inches.
6 tuna.
roughly 1/4 a pig, ribs and shoulders and butt.
4 salmon.
3 smoked salmon.
9 smoked trout.
In addition I still hadn't tagged out for archery deer.
Fortunately, Lokidog (whom I had only met once before) extended an invitation to me to hunt on some island property he has access to and get at least something in the freezer and fill my tag. He picked me up in Anacortes in his boat, brought me into his home, fed me from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon, set up a tree stand in advance and baited the area to increase my chances, helped me gut/skin/quarter/process my doe, and even went so far as to give me some game meat he had from his own freezer to help me restock!!!
Needless to say, I am very grateful for Lokidog's generosity and willingness to help out someone he barely knows! I owe ya one big time!!! With all the bad news going around lately, this show of generosity really helped me to keep things in perspective!

Thanks everyone. :hello: I try to buy friends when I can. :chuckle: Fish, please email me one of your photos. Hopefully it didn't take you too long to finish that hind quarter and clean up the trimmings.

I'll get them on the way as soon as I get home! The last quarter went pretty quickly, like you said, just cut along the dotted line... April and a fillet knife made quick work of the trimmings too. Thanks again!!!

Something about Decatur, accessible only by boat or plane... delivered concrete there for 15 years and didn't meet anyone I didn't like!! ( though the roads were a little dicey!!) a wonderful thing you did, Lokidog. Are the sheep still roaming the island?
-

Yep, sheep still here. They only seem to come off their safe area when they have lambs and it's hard to tell which tiny lamb goes with which mom. :( Shot a 40 pounder a couple years ago, but only got 11 pounds of meat, need to shoot an adult next time. ;) The roads are a little better now, but not much.
