Title: Best hunting dog
Post by: stvnsnwdy on December 21, 2012, 10:09:43 PM: Need a little help, I'm looking for a good all around hunting dog. Only type I really know is beagles cause my neighbor breaded them. What do you guys recommend.

My buddy has one. She can get pretty wild around the house, tons of energy. Great dog though and a natural born pointer.

My beagle was death on rabbits and knew no quit. He did pretty good on anything that left a scent but I've never seen a beagle that would wait on a flush. All of mine (and friends) were nearly uncontrolled hunters once released. Frequently the only way to retrieve them on a hunt was to get within about 5 feet and then they'd stop and roll over.

Post by: WAcoyotehunter on January 22, 2013, 07:34:25 AM: get a cur dog. They can do most anything. I have had my Blackmouth do water retrieves on ducks, coons, lions, bears, coyotes. bobcats.... I'm sure she could do small game.

She has also trashed on almost anything.... :o
