Title: Mallard field Decoys
Post by: Bucks2Ducks on December 23, 2012, 09:05:27 AM
Just curious what field decoys you guys have used and really like. I recently got a dozen of the Flambeau Storm Fronts and wasn't very impressed with the durability of the paint. Looking to purchase another dozen full body's are shells here soon. Any recommendations?

I have 5 dozen GHG full body, 4 dozen G&H shells and 2 dozen GHG shells.  They seem to get the job done !

I have 2 dozen GHG and 2 dozen Flambeau Storm Fronts and i think they look good when mixed together but i find myself not using them  that often. I have better luck just using my goose decoys out in the field. When i mix duck and goose decoys in the field seems like the days you don't do worth a damb and when i just throw out a JUNK YARD spread with the goose decoys are the days we do pretty good on geese and ducks.

Any of you guys try the new 1 piece ghg full body's? I've used the older ones and love them.

Forget ghg!! Go with final approach fullbody mallards. Much better quality as far durability and paint.

Not even close I had to repaint my FA decoys after the 3rd hunt. FA decoys are also very heavy.

Really?  You must not hunt them very much.  I would save your money unless you get them for 50% off or better.

I have 12 doz full body GHG and 8 doz shells. The only paint issue is due to mistreatment. It was the floaters with paint probs.

I hunted with GHG for 5 years and had to repaint or replace the majority of them each season.  So not sure why I had such bad luck with them.  Just my experience.

I have the storefront decoys and think they look good for the price but they paint is the worst quality I have ever seen. It chips off way to easy.

If your looking for a full body duck decoy that holds up with abuse BIGFOOT makes a full body duck decoy. I have a buddy that has 3 dozen of them that look all most a good as they day he bought them 8 years ago but the structure of the decoy and the design of the decoy doesn't really look like a duck but they work. He has had them fall out of the back of his truck going down the road. Hell he even ran two of them over with his truck.

That's just my opinion on them and i don't like the stakes that you have to use with them and they blow over on really windy days but look them up for yourself. Just thought i would through a brand that hasn't been mentioned yet.
