Title: Amazing ,simply Amazing
Post by: Arnbo on December 27, 2012, 09:35:57 AM
I have been around to different gunshops and sporting good stores and most places
Are out of 22 LR not to mention the 223 and most popular handgun rounds.

What really gets me is some people are already boosting the price of things
By a incredible amount on certain forums.

Insane.............. :bdid:

You've known this was coming for five years. Why did you ignore it and find yourself so frustrated now?

Take a look at Gunbroker.com, check out the prices on firearms. Especially the ones that are sure to be part of the upcoming ban. They are selling for double and triple what they were going for 10 days ago.

I mentioned time and time again to people to purchase one or several AR's , particularly the Sig M400 Enhanced. It was a smoking deal at $914.00 10 days ago. Now if you can find one, $1700.00 plus.

Talked to my buddy who is a gunsmith and gets dealer pricing.  Said he talked to DPMS the other day and said that they could have parts to him by Sept. 2013

I have a local gun dealer that did not jump on the price gouging bandwagon.
I respect that and will deal exclusively with them.
I have no respect for, nor will I buy from anyone on a forum or a dealer that takes advantage of the situation and screws people.
Especially on a forum that is supposed to be a community taking care of each other.

It confuses me somewhat to hear people complaining about inflated prices and "price gouging".  Isn't that what a capitalist society does?  When demand goes up, and supply is limited or decreased, the value of the item or service being sold goes up.  Personally, I don't have a problem with the "new" prices.  If I had an AR that I was willing to sell right now, I wouldn't put it out there at $900 because that's what it sold for two weeks ago.  I would get as much $$$ as I could for it.  That's what businesses do.  Sometimes a business takes a loss or only breaks even on a product, so I have no issues with them making more than the standard profit on an item.  Kudos to the shop owners who had the capital and foresight to have a few extra of these firearms around in case the opportunity arose to make a profit on them.  They took a risk, invested some money, and for once it turned into a gold mine for them.

 :yeah:

It is an investment risk to store up inventory. it is bad accounting and business practice. Doing so exposes one to risk. Anytime one takes a risk they should have a reward commensurate with that risk. People who waited took the risk that they would be around forever. They chose X asset or vacation in its place and now they have to compete with everyone else who did the same. $500 AKs and $800 ARs are gone and wont be back for a long time, if ever.

I understand this, and they should make some extra.
However, blatantly tripling and quadrupling prices overnight loses my business permanently.

Most people aren't going to buy at those prices if there are alternatives. They will sit on their $4000 AR while others sell them for $1,800. Then they will lower their price. Supply and demand work these things out. Gun merchants get enough heat from the antis. I don't want to heap any more hate on 'em unnecessarily.

Out at the Custer Sportsman Club my local shooting range,The Christmas Guns were plentiful
There were more smiling faces on kids and adults. The one thingI did notice was that all the
Targets were not your standard round targets ,But Either Human shaped or Zombie.
And  The few  guns on  the bulletin board were a little higher then posted before.
Ann remember the good ole days....lol...

I don't even want my 223 any more.  I can't find dies, let alone ammo.  It used to be a fun, cheap round to plink with, not anymore.

Ten 420 round cans of Federal 5.56 62gr SS109 on stripper clips arrived yesterday at the Wenatchee Walmart. $176.00 a can, which is a great price. I passed due to the fact I already pictured up a bunch from AmmoMan. They may have some left but that stuff goes quick now days.

And what happens if the AWB passes, as currently proposed (ok, I admit, I would be shocked if it did), requiring $200 stamp/firearm, registration, and inability to transfer (thus value of zero)?

Looks as if the current administration has backed off their "Gung-Ho" gun attack. We will see what 2013 has to bring but it is no longer the quick push. They lost their momentum and didn't realize the amount of opposition that came their way. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, besides. They are all busy packing their chutes for the jump off the Fiscal Cliff. Wahooooo! Jump baby! It's the only way to stop the WRECKLESS spending.

I don't think so, I'll bet within 2 weeks we will see a major proposal, but I hope your right.

It amazes me that they didn't have it already written up ready to go before and "event".  I guess they have to have time to add all of their pork!

I think the plan is to blame the "cliff" on the republicans and try to win the mid-terms, then run roughshod.

BINGO!!  They try it to early and they could tank the whole deal. They are going to play it safe and try to make sure they have a shot at it. It isn't going to happen for awhile.

Even if they get a deal on the fiscal cliff, there's still the debt ceiling debate. I think after these two issues they're going to be so worn out and I hope that will be enough for the House GOP to not cave on this issue. `

Exactly, besides if you do the research. The bill as the clowns had it written directly challenged the Supreme Courts 2nd Amendment ruling. They are back to the drawing board making sure they get it right. It's going to take a little time.

I have seen prices increase in all of the local shops. Some were even red tagged as Christmas specials. I did notice too that pistols that were factory shipped with two magazines suddenly have only one in the box with the spare for sale.
