I think if they need all this meat stay on your own deeded land.... If they are going to come on to our land obey are seasons and laws... I'm tired of seeing this every year...

Were all those cows pregnant? So if bulls and cows are born at a 1 to 1 ratio, you effectively killed 7 bulls and 22+ cows. You are criticizing who? Is this the same herd being hunted? On the same wintering grounds? With high powered rifles?

No, it's Master Hunters only hunt and he charges an access fee to the MH's to go pick off a pregnant cow standing around some freshly laid out breakfast.

Are you making these claims based on what you KNOW to be true, or based on what you read on the internet?
I'm just curious if you know the real circumstances or if this is conjecture on your part.
For instance, are you under the impression that he brings hay out for the elk?
-
Hey dan-o shouldnt you be looking for your camera :chuckle:

Did you take any pictures so we can start to do something about it or are you like everyone else and just want to complain about it. Until we can prove to the tribal council via pictures that their people are abusing their rights and are taking more than their fair share especially in the mature bulls and bucks category nothing will be done its all heresy.
Until people on here start documenting the waste and abuse (including fish) then nothing will he done. We will just Piss and moan about the slaughter when it happens every winter.
And FYI I can't document anything because I am currently stationed 3,000 miles away. So no I cant "put my money where my mouth is".

You know what, some of us are actually trying to come up with a equitable solution for all, and these people that do nothing but point fingers without any credible proof are not helping. Its not a deer or elk issue but rather both, so it needs to go in the general threads. :twocents:

Just dropped the hay off.... Lol and yes I will be contacting the captain on a false statement. This will be my last post in here to you Internet detectives. By the way it is legal to feed elk on your property and that all I'm doing. No different then people putting deer feeders or licks out. I have my same return clients so I'm not worried. And why should I not charge an access fee, it's my land. You start paying the taxes and maintaining it and you can hunt for free

Does animal size make this bad, is it skin color or is it race?
Would you be as outraged if it was only a 4x4 in someones rig or what if it was a 5x partially gutted and left to rot on the side of the road? Both of these happened in the Winston yesterday durinng a cow hunt.

The anger comes from the fact that some members of the Yakama tribe and now Muckleshoot tribe kill multiple trophy bull elk every year. Many are not what most consider a real hunter since they wait until winter hits and shoot them in their wintering grounds when they are trying to survive. There have also been numerous incidents where Yakama members have shot trophy bull elk off of hay in or around the feeding station.
Now compare this to someone like me who has 10pts and still can't draw a branch bull tag. I will most likely never draw a branch bull tag in the Colockum, but a certain Yakama kills about 4 every year. And yes I had pictures and posted them here. Another discussion for another day.
The anger stems from the lack of equality. Anytime there is inequality between two groups of people (also known as racial discrimination) there will be anger.
-
take pictures then send to the news sources. This is a waste!!!!!! public needs to see this.

Exactly. The point myself and others are trying to make is not without pictures its not happening. We ALL know its happening.. The only people that don't know its happening are either not ever up there to see it or they have blinders on. We know it happens every September in the Colockum and every Dec through Feb in the Yakima areas. Our point is, is that complaining about it here only raises awareness about it on this website which is basically preaching to the choir. If you want to change things everytime you see it take pictures post it up and/or send it to Plateau. I dont think a media blitz is the way to go. Let Plateau have a chance and for the Yakamas to work things out themselves. If they don't then a media blitz as a last resort would be something I support.

the tribes are full of *censored*, they talk of all this mother earth crap and throw around subsistence hunting left and right when people complain, well......how many cows do ya see in their pickups, they only shoot the bulls, and for one reason, and it has nothing to do with subsistence.

My buddy and his family have been skiing up at White Pass and staying in Packwood this week. They saw 2 huge bulls in the back of a white Dodge on the hwy. He said they looked like tribal members. His daughter tried to get a good pic on her cel phone but it is pretty blurry. My wife's best friend's recent ex husband is a Yakima and recently moved back to WA from Arizona. He has been shooting the *censored* out of the bulls in the Nile area. :bash: :bash:

Guys need to stop busting each others chops when they do not have a picture. We have all observed things and had no picture to prove what we saw. All of us.
-
I don't see why it's such a big deal to post about seeing something like the OP did without having pictures. . . How many people have got pictures of wolves on here vs. the amount that have posted that they saw them? It still boils down to whether you believe the person or not, just like anything else on here. Picture or video proof would be nice to have to show to the media and the other 'nonbelievers', but for conversation pictures aren't vital. :twocents:
-
I'm not questioning what he mightve saw but without pics or the person willing to testify to what they saw and be credible there is not a whole lot that can be done. Why don't we focus on the topic and not venture off it?

Last and final warning!
We are getting tired of baby sitting this thread learn to talk civil or there will be problems for more then a few people. Personal shots or racism will not be put up with. That goes for both sides.

Be careful what you ask for Skills, here is how British Columbia views native rights:
"Harvest Allocation Policy
Allocation is the process by which the available harvest of a particular wildlife population is divided amongst consumptive users, after the rights of First Nations have been considered. "

There is now 1 ban handed out. Anyone else want to complain? No new member is going to join and tell us what to do. This thread is not going anyplace, but I will make sure it gets back on track.

this thread isnt doing anything other than getting everybody angry at each other i think if native tribes were slaughtering elk and deer left and right like people make it sound, the animals would already be wiped out right? or are you claiming this just started happening? if there are still herds for them to kill then that would make me believe theyre harvesting responsibly. that being said, if i had the rights they do, i would never eat beef again to put it one way.

i dont hunt in the areas youre talking about. my statement is... if there is game to harvest then they must not be killing everything the way you say they are, or there wouldnt be enough animals for them to have these massacres. just drawing a logical conclusion

Alot of people dont see first hand whats happening. Thats why I like these threads to try and get people that have no idea, informed a little about whats happening in their own state. Even if they always turn into S storms and the Natives on here try and make it seem blown out of proportion some people can use their common sence and get a little info on whats actually going on.

Ask around, I have not deleted or modified posts today accept for a classified ad placed in the wrong spot.
You guys need to put yourselves in our shoes. As a group, we often share before we react, this way we feel we are a bit covered from performing an action which will be received poorly. Sometimes our actions are not appreciated I am sure, but in the end, we have maintained this site successfully for a long while.

Whoever is removing truthful posts off of this thread is part of the problem of this state and country.
If you're talking about the post you made that got nuked, it is up there among the top most racist posts I've seen on here. If that's your idea if right and true, I'm not sure what to say. You're more than welcome to find another forum to partake in if you don't like this one.
