I've had several years where I tagged out with deer and elk but this year was the first getting a bear too. It started opening day of bear season August 1. My brother and I went out to a spot where we have had good luck before with bears. (He also has a post on here telling his hunting year as he tagged out for his first time.) About 45 minutes after daylight this bear comes walking out and the 7mm did its job. Next came archery season. After passing up several spikes and two points I finally got my shot and smoked a nice three point blacktail. Needless to say I never found the deer. After looking four different times in a three week period it was like the deer just disappeared. Was pretty bummed but hey that's part of the game right. Early elk didnt prove to be any better for me. Late season archery came along and opening day in one of my favorite elk spots I shot and hit a limb on a cow. (Unit is cow only.) I backed out and came in two days later where I had my second chance. After waiting for almost an hour letting the elk feed towards me I shot at fifty yards and my arrow went right over her back. Now I'm really frustrated cause I don't miss and now I blew two opportunities in a row. The following day I went back in and and after getting on the elk three different times for a few hours I got my shot at 73 yards and it didnt go twenty yards before tipping over. The following week i ran over to eastern washington and hunted for a few days then on my last day there I decided to shoot a whitetail doe. It's not the buck I was after but it's meat in the freezer and all my tags filled!!

Wow...plenty of good eats right there. To bad on the non recovery...sucks. Nice looking bear and man did you hose that doe or what! She looks hit hard. Not a lot of tracking on that one I assume. Thanks for posting up.
