Title: Springfield 1911 .45 GI price advice
Post by: Skillet on January 04, 2013, 03:49:39 PM
Anybody willing to take a quick pot shot at what I should offer the pawn shop for an out the door cash price on a clean Springfield 1911 .45?  I THINK it is the GI model - totally black parkerized metal, black grip, one clip, nothing fancy at all.

What are they asking?

I would think they would be asking in the $600 range, but that is without seeing it, assuming no case, in average condition.

I wouldn't pay more than $500 for a used parkerized GI model.   Find your best price on a new one, then don't pay more than 75% of that value for a used one.  Sure, there are a few models of guns that hold a little more value, but you're talking about a stripped down low model of a 1911. It is not a Colt. It is not a Kimber. It is not a DW.

I like the way you think Jack!!! Curious what they are asking, but after thinking about it $500 is probably a decent OTD price or just buy a new one.

6 years or so ago they were going localy for 399.00 along with the Para Ordance GI Expert priced the same. That's what I paid for both.

I spent around $550 or so for a used Springfield MilSpec.  I forget the exact price, but it might still be a thread here.  I would try to pay less than that, but with the current market who knows.

What are they asking?

They have it on the shelf for $629, I think.  I've bought a few guns from these guys in the past, and they are not very consistent on how much they'll move on prices.  Sometimes I can get it for almost half of asking, sometimes it is "the price is the price".

I paid $520.00 for a brand new Springfield micro compact GI model so I would think a used full size shouldnt be more then that.  :dunno: FYI I had a ton of problems with mine and I bought it for CC. That being said I did send it back to Springfield and they put in a new stainless barrel, trigger, front sight and some other parts. Although I havent had a chance at the range with it yet customer service was awesome.  I dont think I will ever trust my life with it though so Im shopping for another CC gun.
