Dad got his sheep today about 9:00 am, shot him at 210 yards, one shot kill, spent the whole rest of the day fighting the heat so we didnt get a lot of pictures but i will try and post some but im having troubles so if somebody wants i can email some to you if you wanna post them. big ram, the biologist said that it is unusually large for an umptanum sheep, and from the measurements he took i think it will easily go 160, possibly 165 or better well see he only measured horn length and bases so ill measure the whole thing tomorrow

Okay guys here you go, great pics 12gauge, beautiful ram.
-
to sum up the photos the burned up bronco happened saturday morning my dad and his friend scott were pulling scotts horse trailer up umptanum ridge and the bronco got a little to hot they got to the top of the ridge and were able to unhook the trailer but the bronco caught fire and that was the end result, you can see scotts head in the side profile pic of the ram and there are a few more of scott on horseback packing the sheep out of the hell hole he was in
-
sweet pics. Sounds VERY memorable! Nice work!

Great ram. Looks to me like it will be at least 160. I can't wait to draw a sheep tag.

just thought id give you guys an update, i just did a rough score on this ram and either i suck at scoring sheep or hes bigger then i thought because i came up with 171 4/8 gross and 170 3/8 net
-
Oh, I bet you are very close. He looks every bit of 170 to me. What were the length and base measurements?
Anyway, congratulations to your Dad and I'm glad that fire didn't get away from you and burn the countryside!
-
Wow, thanks for the pics and tell your Dad congrats on a beautiful sheep. I hope to someday achive the goal of harvesting a Bighorn sheep. Just gotta draw the tag.
-
He was 37 5/8 on the left and 34 1/4 on the right with bases of 14 7/8 and 14 3/4
-

Congrats on the awesome ram, bummer about the charred Bronco. :yike:
-
Congratulations! AWESOME Ram.
-
What an amazing ram. I was going to come up with a guesstimate of 170. He has a wide curl and decent bases, plus he carries his mass pretty well. Great job.
-
Awesome ram! Tell your dad congrats!

Just the one with the horse behind me while i was holdin it, as warm as it was that day gettin it skinned and out of that canyon was priority number one, wish it would've been a little cooler
-
Congrats to your dad on a very nice ram!!!!

Just a little update Dad took the horns in to Don Sebesta in Othello today he measured it out at 172 and change, but he forgot to renew as an official measurer so Dads gonna take it to the Yakima sportsmans show and have it scored there.
-
Sweet, a 170 ram is outstanding
-
Am I close?
36+36 length
15+15 base
13.5+13.5 1st
12+12 2nds
9+9 3rds
-
i havent seen the score sheet but when i rough scored it i came up with 37 5/8 and 34 3/4 for length because his left side was broomed quite a bit more than his right, and the bases were like 14 3/8 and 14 7/8 i dont remember the rest of the mass measurements i only came up with 171 though and that was before the drying period although im guessing sheep dont lose much
-
bump for firefighter
-
Hey Andrew thanks for bumping it. It was a great looking ram, I believe it score 171 0/8. Tell your dad congrats, I can't wait to get drawn for a tag . :IBCOOL:
-
Great Ram! Man, you guys are lucky half the county did not burn down up there! Seems like it is always windy up there. Sorry about the Bronco, but how many acres burned??
-
if youve ever been up on top of umptanum ridge there is a large landing of sorts at the "Y" directly on top that is where the bronco burnt so it actually didnt burn any of the surrounding area
-
Wow, very lucky.
