Are they talking in SW Wash yet? I've been to damn busy and I haven't talked with any bow hunting buddies in a while.
Thanks

very few of them are. it just depends on where you are at. i've only heard 4 bulls bugle all season down low. up high it seems there talking right at daylight, or if you find a horny bull and get right on top him and cow call. hopefully it will pick up ( at least for me) the last few days.

I heard one at 5:30 this morning as I was getting ready for work. I wasn't sure at first but I grabbed my bugle and got him to answer back a couple of times before I gave it up. He is just a litter feller and needs a couple more years under his belt to be shootable. It is fun to ply with them though.

We had a bull bugle at us a couple of times late Sunday morning. This was a unit on the coast. All it took was a couple of cow calls to get him to respond.

I will let you know after this weekend. I hunted the first 3 days of W side archery. Heard 2 bugles and no cows talking. Pulled out to save vacation time for the end of the season and will be hunting the last 3 days. I am hopefull they are more active.

Just got back yesterday from SW WA. Nothing for me, but several close calls. I just can't seem to break the 100 yard barrier. At any rate I'd say the animals were very vocal in the areas I hunted. At one point I was trying to sweet talk a smaller bull into bow range, but two larger bulls below me were screaming so loud I think the little guy was scared. Exciting to say the least.
