I have read that bears will come in to elk calls but what type of elk call do i use? i want to call in a bear for this year but im not sure what call to get.
-
They will come to elk calls, but it's far more effective to use distress calls. Large prey, or bear cub, but any distress call will motivate them more than an elk mew.
-
:yeah: I would rather go around with a distress call then a elk call while hunting for bear.
-
so any coyote call will work

i was thinking about getting a cub in distress but i figure that will onlly call in females and i dont want to be killing females yeah know?
-
I would go with fawn in distress or rabbit distress call. Cub in distress call can work on calling in boars looking for the cubs to kill to get the sow back in breeding mode again. I think there are some calling help threads in here if you do a search for them. I would also look at bearhuntingmagazine.com they have a lot of good information in the past issues.

Ive called bears in with a cow call...a buddy last year killed his bear while bugling...came right into him. Any rabbit distress/fawn distress will help out.
