I have been using my dads old semi auto 20 guage and I like the way it shoots, but im curious what you guys like. What do you shoot and why do you like it? add a picture if you want!
-
I use a Beretta Xtrema2 for ducks, geese, turkeys. For upland game birds I use a CZ Redhead. My sons shoot Benelli and really like those, at times I wish I had the Benelli even though I really like my Beretta, all good guns IMO.
-
Either a Remington 870, or a Tri-Star Viper G-2 (semi)........whatever one I feel like :dunno: :chuckle: Both are in 12
-
Well I have a 870 express I shot all the time until I hit my stoeger 2000!
-
Stoeger 3500
Best shotgun I've owned.
-
Currently pack a Winchester SX3 12g
-
I typically use the Benelli SBEII or the SP-10 or Browning 10 as my main guns, but I have other options that I use depending on what I am shooting.
-
I like my Winchester 1300 the best ...it flies it dies ... :yeah: or runs :chuckle:
-
I use the Rem 870 express i got when i was 11. I'm almost 30 now and never had a problem with it.
-
Currently pack a Winchester SX3 12g
Great gun. I love mine, the only problem though is now my wife wants one too.
-
Benelli Nova 12ga. Shoots great. I hunt salt water and havent had a problem yet?
:yeah:
Love mine over 8,000 through mine and still no rust problems
-
Benelli M1 Super 90 .20ga (5.75lbs)
Sometimes I'll take the ol' 870 out just for old times sake.
-
got a mossberg 500 i got it because i love the location of the saftey was going to buy a rem 870 but dont like were the saftey is. I put about 2000 rounds threw mine in the last 3 years and havent had a problem once. i have shot slugs buck*censored* birdshot lead and steel and it it a great all around gun. i want to get a rem versamax i think its called semi auto and will shoot 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 inch shells.

Depends on what I am after! Grew up busting ducks and geese with a Winchester model 12. Today my main two guns are Franchi 20 gauge and Beretta Silver Pigeon 20 gauge. I probably shoot the Franchi best, but there is no better feeling than chasing quail with a double. Upland is my passion so I like light weight. Both of these are ultra light and trouble free. Never had much use for a 12. Not even on geese and turkey.
I have a .410 double I use for grouse and the occasional pheasant. Would use it more if I could get Remington HD for it. Back in the days before steel shot restrictions it was my main gun. Ducks, geese, quail, chuckar and pheasant didn't matter loaded with buffered #6. Though I'm not much of a sky buster.
I realize this is in the waterfowl file. Haven't done much of that recently due to regulations. I like my ducks up close, tight and putting the breaks on. Too high of risk hitting what you don't want or can't shoot behind your intended target. First time I had to turn myself in for an accidental I quit. Sort of miss dogs busting ice and shivering with excitement. But, cackling roosters, rocketing quail and frozen chuckar make me forget about it pretty quick.
Sure wish I could have figured out how to make a living in the upland game. But, archery ain't too bad a gig either :chuckle:

i feel strange coming into this everyone is listing off nice expensive shotguns and im shooting a mossberg lol

Hey, when you have freezing rain and/or lots of mud there may be no better gun than an old Mossberg. Back when I was guiding I had three guys in a duck blind in one of the worst freezing rain storms I can remember. The only birds up and flying were canvasbacks and I had about half my deek set as magnum Cbacks. We'd bust a few they would fly around the bay and come back over and over and over. After about an hour two of the guys shooting 1100's were taking turns with my .410 double since their guns would not function. Meanwhile the one guy with a Mossberg was shooting double after double. Once he limited it got passed around. I bet those guys think quite highly of the Mossberg these days.
-
haha i feel better now haha. my pump has never jammed on me or anything. I can always trust my mossberg to get the job done.
-
870
-
I have an old 3 1/2" remington 870 "Turkey" gun.
I love the simple-ness of the pump in the field. If anything goes wrong, I can completely take it down with just a broken twig.
This things a beast.
-
Ruger Red Label 12 ga for upland and Browning BPS 12 ga for ducks/turkey.
Occasially shoot an old Ithica model 37 featherlight too. Like that gun.
-
Benelli SBE2 with a pattern master works awesome for me. killed everything from quail to geese and turkeys with it.
-
Remington 1100 for me, never felt compelled to change.
:yeah:
-
Remington 870 express aka emergency boat paddle
-
Currently pack a Winchester SX3 12g
Great gun. I love mine, the only problem though is now my wife wants one too.
Yes, i really like mine. I've put it to a serious test the last two years. No matter how dirty it get's in the field it just keeps going. Definitely a very reliable smooth shooter. Love the coating on the stock too. Never gets slick...
-
I've always shot my Dad's 870. This year I finally stepped up and bought a 11-87. It is the best shotgun I've shot and I was very surprised at how much better I shoot now. Only bad thing about it is the O-ring cracked after the first day. Put on an after market O-ring and never had any problems since.
-
1960's model Browning A-5 Light Twelve, 2-3/4". If it's feathered and I can't kill it with that gun, I just don't need to hunt for it.
-
Benelli M2 20 ga. I bought it when I moved to Ellensburg a while back planning on getting into upland hunting. I've done some of it and love it but back on the west side I got back into ducks. I thought about upgrading to a 12ga but the 20 is getting it done so I'll stick with it!
-
Benelli Super Vinci 12 Gauge with 3 1/2" mags.
-
Just picked up a Beretta Xtrema 2. Love it.
-
I grew up shooting a Mossberg 835 now I'm shooting an old Winchester model 24 16ga for grouse and a stainless synthetic Ruger Redlabel 12ga for everything else.
-
bROWNING gOLD hUNTER
-
:yeah: same
-
Ruger Red Label (all weather).
-
The Remington Versa Max 12 Gauge with a black cloud mid range choke tube from Carlson and shooting 3in #3 black clouds dropes birds dead out to 60 yards.
-
camo mossberg 500.. my first pump shotgun was a 20ga 870; it kept hanging up, wouldnt throw a slug straight, when we found a mossberg 500 12ga for my brother and I saw him make several 'dont tell anyone they wont believe it' kind of shots, and seeing that I could line up the two beads on the barrel and hit a clay pigeon out past 75yds with a slug... figured i ought to get one... so 230$ later..good slug accuracy. good patterns, always seems to work. I've had it 10+ years, and need to put a mag spring in it.. In Iraq all our shotguns were 500/590 series, and even after a dust storm, they worked.
-
Benelli Nova 12GA. I love it, but the birds don't.
-
Browning citori. Bought it new when I was 16. 32 waterfowl seasons later and it's still killin ducks and geese.
-
Circa 1965 Remington 870 magnum... :IBCOOL:
-
For peasants and quail my classic double 20ga. ducks geese coyotes (Black Death ) Benelli SBE, trap 870 12ga.sporting clays Browning 425. Starlings , rock doves crows Remington 1187 12 ga.

Okay, dude above has me beat in spades when it comes to style. I have a Beretta AL391 Urika. I use it for everything, pheasants, chukars, waterfowl. 26" barrel and 3" chamber.
-
Remington 11-87 with a kicks high flyer full choke. Loved every shot with it till last weekend it stopped cycling shells :dunno: took it apart and cant figure out why it wont cycle. Time to start looking for a new SBE II :IBCOOL:
-
Have you taken it to a gunsmith? Is it not ejecting, extracting, or feeding?
-
Browning A500R
-
Mossberg 12 ga. Maverick 88 with a 28" barrell on it. Gun was made for home defense but with a 28" barrell it works perfectly as a waterfowl gun.
-
Remington Model 11-87 with a Pattern Master choke. Been my go to Waterfowl gun for years. Hasn't failed me yet.
-
I grew up shooting pumps, then went to o/u's, and now I've settled on sxs's. Never been into autos. Been with guys duck hunting with them and they always seem to jam at the worst moment. I really enjoy shooting exposed hammer guns, and have some from the 1880's to the 1930's. I also like Lefevers, seen below. Now that I'm in my late 40's, I'd much rather shoot a few birds with a vintage gun than a limit with a plastic gun. Just makes the whole experience that much more enjoyable for me.

:chuckle: mine had rusted over because if the salt an still shoots the same
-
Browning A500R
Nice. I am currently shooting my Browning A500g. Don't see many of them around. I used to use a Winchester SX2, but it ran into some problems...
-
SBEII most of the time, sometimes a Browning Citori.
-
Winchester SX3, 12 guage and I love it!!
-
All the shotguns I have kept have been 870's. Have won others at banquets, and have sold them. Just got a 887 this fall, and like it well.
-
Mossberg 835 for most occasions, the 870 20 gauge when shooting will be in close.
-
Beretta Urika 391 that is my primary waterfowl gun.
80% Honkers, 20% ducks
Have yet to find a need for a 3.5 in chamber.
Started out with nothin and still have most of that left.

Your the man. Nice stuff, and jewery on the green head. Sweat
-
Winchester SX3. Haven't had a bad shell one and I've put a variety through it. Can't say the same for my buddies and their "better" Super Black Beagles....1 & 2's.
-
Remington 870 or my franchi affinity both in 12 gauge
-
Fethrdusterm, you know how its done my friend. Im looking for a entry level sxs to swing on ducks, Ive got one of my Great granddads ithaca 12 sxs but my pops wont let me shoot it (its understandable). Might have to start out with a CZ sxs of somekind.
I remember your post about hunting with your dad and the great artwork you did. Really cool man, what a tribute.
-
I use a Stoeger 2000 for ducks and a Ruger Red Label 20 for Upland

Thanks. There's tons of great entry level sxs's out there for half the cost of a cz, although if you want to go new, a cz isn't a bad gun. The used one's I'm seeing are mostly european, but some American guns too. Drop me a pm when you're ready and I can hook you up. I have an ffl also.

Remington 870

1960's model Browning A-5 Light Twelve, 2-3/4". If it's feathered and I can't kill it with that gun, I just don't need to hunt for it.
My A5 is also made in 1960, however mine is a magnum12. I have had the 32" barrel reduced to 30" and installed a Carlson's screw in chokes. No issues shooting steel shots.
-
I have a "New England Firearms" Pardner Pump 3 inch 12 gauge long barrel, i like this gun alot it was really cheap but well made and a duck slayin machine. Never have to worry to much about it when they are cheep so i like it alot doesn't matter if it gets a little banged up it as long as it stays clean and shoots I'm happy
I also have an OLD J.C. Higgins 2 3/4 inch 12 gauge with an adjustable choke my grandpa handed down to me, I'm gonna have it fixed up, it has a little problem with not ejecting shells sometimes do to a very worn out spring, but it is with out a doubt one of my favorite guns and i shoot very well with it and cant wait to have it fixed up when i get the money to do so.
-
Well I have upgraded to a stoeger 2000! And I love it
Too one is my 870 and the bottom is stoeger
-
I use a Browning Maxus.
-
Benelli SBEII
-
Beretta extrema with a kicks mod choke is my go to. Got a maxus this year and haven't shot it much. Probably get rid of it and get another Beretta. Can't hit a dang thing with the maxus. :bash:

 I like it. Good to have a gun like this that you don't have to worry about on really nasty days.

Beretta A391 Extrema.
This gun shoulders effortlessly for me, it hits where I point it, very low matinence and little failure.
Then again I am a gun *censored* so I will likely be shooting another flavor of gun in a year or two.
