The husband and I both like to cook, so we probably split it pretty evenly overall. I was just curious what the rest of the world is like these days (not that you necessarily represent the rest of the world :chuckle:)
Oh, and I really wanted to try creating a poll...this is my first one. Kinda fun.
-
My lady cant cook :) She will admit to that, But I still love the guts out of her and I do 90% of the cooking!
Had to cook my own meals ever since I was little, Moms was always work work work.
I wouldnt have it any other way. I love to eat.
-
girls my age suck at cooking :chuckle: so ive always been the first to offer to cook...i love my own cooking...
-
Every other day. We both used to be good cooks. Don't know what has happend in the past 20 years, but we certainly have lost our touch. It's as if even rice has changed it's molecular structure and can no longer be cooked the way it has always been done :dunno: I'm thinking we need to win the lotto so we can have a butler ;)
-
I cook everyday. Both of my parents worked long hours growing up so I learned to cook at a young age and it's something I love doing.
-
I cook about 75% of the time. :peep:

But you are something special! I know. I've met ya :hello: :chuckle:
-
Had to go with just 50. Used to be 100%, but I am busy. Still do just about anything that can be grilled. So when its not stirfry night I am cooking something, but wife still cooks some veggies or something.
-
I cook fairly often but not as often as my wife.
-
50% of the time or %50 of the meals, (usually the meat)
-
The wife's favorite dish to make is Taco Bell, so I do all of the cooking. I'm an ex-chef and sell exotic foods for a living, so I get to use a lot of neat stuff like wild mushrooms, caviar, truffles, different oils and vinegars, etc.. I love preparing sauces and am not great with baking. Occasionally, I'll do a 6-8 course meal for family and friends, complete with wines, cheese courses, charcuterie. I love preparing game when I am fortunate enough to put some in the fridge. Lately, that includes geese only! There's always next archery season.
-
50/50 in our house. My wife cooks from the box or pouch. I cook from scratch. She forgets the onions and other vegetables, I start each meal with them. We are so different.
I would argue that outdoorsmen probably cook more than those guys who are not, just so we can learn to cook what we catch, or are able to cook for the guys when out in the backcountry.
-
My wife can't cook worth a darn. She can (and has) burnt corn......
I do 99% of the cooking in the house.
My wife would starve in stead of cook.
Once in a blue moon and I mean, once.... she will cook something palletable.

my wife has a couple things that she cooks really well, but for the most part i do the cooking, however i love to cook, i have since i was young, hell i could whip up quiot the meal out of an MRE and top ramen, my canteen cup and a sterno tin and it was game on, when you live on MRE's for months at a time you would be suprised at the concoktions one can come up with

He is always trying to take all the credit! :chuckle: What is really annoying is sometimes when we are having someone over for dinner and I've cooked all the side dishes for hours, and he cooks the meat right at the end, he gets all the praise for a great dinner!
But actually in day to day life, I enjoy the chats while making dinner (50/50!)
-
We both split duties depending on who is home and able. I cook a lot on weekends and enjoy making big meals for friends and family.

Loki, I'm sure I say this with the understanding and support of the entire forum - you're dumb and are in a lot of trouble now. :bdid: :yike: :yike: Weathergirl, may your retribution be severe and lengthy. He deserves it! :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
i do all my own cooking but then again im a single mid 20's college dude :chuckle: but in all seriousness i taught myself how to cook shortly after moving out of my parents simply because i hate eating boxed/fast food
-
Thread reminds me of Totie Fields old story that when she got married she told her husband that a woman could only be good in one room in the house-so she never could cook. Personally I can prepare a meal, but my wife can actaully cook-I think there's a difference.
-
The wife does most of the cooking during the week, I do the weekends, and for most of the family/freinds get togethers.
-
I'm thinking we need to win the lotto so we can have a butler ;)
Rad I don't think Butlers cook, but they could open the door for your cook/chef. :chuckle:
-
cooking is how I pay the bills I'm a chef. and I love it

With a name like Toe-Jam i would be kinda worried. Just keep your shoes on. LOL

lol :) I can cook ....uhhh one or two things really well! <3
..or if it comes from a box, sometimes.
-
About 90% me, 10% her, but she is a great prep person in the kitchen and we share the cleanup. I am very fond of Cajun/Creole dishes and Homemade Pizza, as well as cooking with Venison of course!

2. Crawfish Monica w/ Jalapeno cordbread mini muffins with honey
3. Fresh Grilled Halibut from Westport covered in a Shrimp Creole Sauce w/ muffins

Nice pics. My stomach is telling me that low carb isn't right for me right now!
-
never :chuckle:
-
My wife can cook, she just doesn't think she can. I do about 80% of the cooking, and end up helping her with 80% of her cooking! We are trying to stick to a low carb/high protein diet, and since she gets the heeby jeebies handling raw meat, I do most of it. I'm ok with it, I love to cook and like to experiment with new things. Made an awesome venison roast, london broil style last night with a brown sugar chili pepper rub, and some quinoa with minced chilis, bell peppers, onions and garlic in it, dang good eats right there!
-
My wife's the baker, I do 98% of all the rest of the cooking and grocery shopping.
-
When I was married about 50/50 now single 100%. I love to cook and have since I was young. Love tastes and textures and developing layers of flavors.
-
My wife's the baker, I do 98% of all the rest of the cooking and grocery shopping.
:yeah:
If it doesn't have a recipe and go in the oven my wife doesn't cook it. I cook almost all the time.
-
I'd say the ex cooked 75-80% of the time... but that's because he couldn't keep his mouth shut about how I cooked or how I should have cooked... :bdid: The last straw was when he told me how I "should" have cooked the KRAFT mac n cheese... I told him he earned himself 100% cooking rights and I hardly cooked after that. :chuckle:
Now I'm cooking all the time again and I love it! I guess I forgot how much I really enjoy it and how good it feels when people appreciate your good cookin!
-
I think it's awesome how many men actually do a majority of the cooking!
-
I would say my wife and I pretty much split the cooking duties 50-50 or somewhere very close. It kinda depends on what we are eating, she's better at some things and I'm better at others. We both love to cook though.
-
If you asked my wife she'd vote a lot lower % than I would :chuckle:
-
I would love to build my wifes confidence with cooking. Seriously....she is a horrible cook if it does not have a recipe. I would love it if we cooked more together. The nice part is she will clean up after dinner about 75% of the time.
-
My wife can't cook without a recipe at all; won't even try. If she cooks, it takes serious planning; reading the recipe, shopping specifically for the ingredients without ever looking to see if we already have them, and needing help with setting the oven to cook it. I have to do the shopping or she'll never check the flyer, use coupons, or compare the portion costs from one brand to another.
-
I cook dang near every meal and i really enjoy it  like others have said, she needs directions.
-
Except for the barbecue, it's all hers.
We have an understanding. She provides for and prepares all the meal related stuff of which 95% of that is dinner since breakfast/lunch are a fend for ourselves deal, except weekends which she does do.
I in turn, do 100% of the horse related stuff for our 5 manure recyclers. The buying of the hay, the grain, the supplements, the vet care, the farrier, the barn cleaning, etc, etc.....
We go out dinner about 5-6 times a month. It's my plastic that hits the deck. :chuckle:
I think i got the short end of the deal. She thinks she has the short end of the deal. Therefore, it's mutual. :chuckle:
So, and due to the plastic, I'll call me an occasionally.
-
Depends on what were cooking.
Crock Pot food - Her 95% me 5%
Regular foods - Her 60% me 40%
Grilled foods - Her 20% me 80%
Smoked food - Her 5% me 95%
-
We are about 50/50. We cook together. It is usually cooked on the smoker. Meats, veggies, pizza. We love our Traeger. She usually prepares the salads/sides and does the cleanup. I love my wife and make sure she knows it while she is doing the dishes. I busy myself sharpening knives or something. :chuckle:

Damm, I think you nailed it.
Goes for me too :chuckle:
except I do more crockpot than 5% :chuckle:
-
I chose the last option :chuckle: :chuckle: the reason why is because,.. well If I cook,.. that would be like murdering my whole family. lol my wife is an amazing cook. so far everything she's cooked was amazing,. just perfect. I never complain. however,.. the bbq grill is mine,.. I grill everything. but my wife does the marinating.

I'm thinking we need to win the lotto so we can have a butler ;)
Rad I don't think Butlers cook, but they could open the door for your cook/chef. :chuckle:
My knowledge of butlers comes from watching Geoffrey on Fresh Prince of Belaire. So what do I know :dunno: Everyone is trying to ruin my dream :tung: A chef that does the laundry and picks up dog poo would work too :chuckle:

You forgot that she needs to be a licensed masseuse as well. ;)
-
We both like to cook! Lots of wild game!
-
Probably 75% of the time I cook.
-
I do all the cooking. It's a nice brain-dead activity after I get home from work most days, and I like seeing people enjoy good eats. I cook a lot of tex-mex stuff, and a lot of "comfort food".
She does all the cleanup, and that's actually a pretty big job since I'm messy.
In fact, tonight is gonna be a 9lb pork shoulder, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.
-
I'm a hop skip and a jump away. How about I bring the dessert?

I'm pretty sure that isn't a butler... ;)

By the way.....don't know why anyone has responded at all, myself included......the thread was to the attention of "gentlemen" after all. :chuckle:

i do breakfasts on the weekends...lunch is a free for all...she is a gormet cook inside so why not...so occasionally
-

Haven't you learned by now that our reading comprehension on this site is purely selective? Although according to the wife I only hear what I want to hear at home too :chuckle:
-
Before we met, I was a cook in a Sea Galley for a bit. Then after we dated a while I was a cook at a bowling alley. Nearly 30 years later I'm way out of the game now. But I can chop, fry, sous, with just about anyone. The grill is my place though, She doesn't touch it. My wife is a good cook; And since the recent surge of cooking shows on TV, she's experamenting in the kitchen. I like it so far.

after a sholder sergery i started watching cooking shows & doing a lot of cooking. got expensive & the wife wasn't partial to allot of it so shes taken over again. if its breakfast its all me.
-
I started doing the cooking early in our marrage because I got off work at 2:00 and my wife didn't get home until six - now I'm retired and she's still working so its still way more convenient for us that I do the cooking - She's good at it so when she offers on the weekend or during holidays / vacations I take her up on it.
-
I cook 95% of the time since I retired and love it. My wife still works and loves coming home to dinner being ready and almost always stuff from scratch. She says she can't understand why we didn't do it this way sooner...
-
occasionally. I bring in 100% of the income so I'm not going to do 50% of the housework. However, a stay at home mom's job never ends so I make it my business to give her a few nights off every week, be it by cooking, taking us out, or doing the dishes :)
-
I missed the vote but I cook about 1% of the time at home, but for some reason at elk camp I love to cook. I mostly love to cook breakfast after I already have an elk hanging.

Doing half the cooking is certainly nowhere close to doing half the "housework".... I'm self-employed and don't put in nearly as many hours as my wife at her job, yet she still does most of the laundry (I try to help), so I am more than happy to help with dishes and cooking, of course we both actually enjoy cooking.
If your wife is a slave or hired hand, I can understand not helping since you "make all the money", but I just don't get that attitude. :dunno:
-
Wow--getting "called out." :o
Doing half the cooking is certainly nowhere close to doing half the "housework"...
Never said that or implied that. The discussion is about cooking, not a litany of the many duties requisite to maintain a household. Though I did allude to it by mentioning dishwashing.
It is my belief that if one spouse doesn't work outside the home, that they should perform most of the household duties. Certainly not all, especially if there are children in the picture. That would be a job that never ends. Early in our marriage, we both had full time jobs and split the housework along agreed upon lines. Even though I always worked more and brought in more income. Make sense?

Sorry, to ruffle feathers, I should have put a ;) or something at the end, but I do believe it says housework not dishwashing. I understand if one person is working out of the house more, it is just logical that the one home does more.

I dont cook often enough but this is the reason why you see my wife is so horrible at cooking i figure she needs all the practice she can get.
-
I do all the cooking.

ALOT MORE THAN MY WIFE .... :chuckle:
