Title: Camo Patterns

I have been looking at getting some camo for the past few years, and thought I really wanted the Mossy Oak Real Tree Break-Up.  I can't seem to find many pieces in this pattern this year...  It seems as though many companies are going with the Mossy Oak Treestand.   :dunno:

What do you guys think of these patterns?  Do you prefer one over the other, or are they both good?

If you really want to do well with it, get a radically different pattern for your pants versus your top and then a differnet for a vest or something.  This will really help break up your silouette.  Most contrasting colors work the best.  I know that doesn't answer your question, but might give you something to think about.

I'm not a fan of the newest "photo print" camo patterns. It also kinda pisses me off that you can hardly find hunting clothing that is not in some fancy new camo pattern. Those "designer" camo prints are to catch the hunters eye there on the sales rack, not become invisible to game. Most of the retail camo sold now is marketing hype.

These patterns nearly all turn to sold grey, brown, or even darker at over 75-100 yards and the patterns cannot be distinguished anyway. Also, don't care what camo one wears when moving....... you're busted.

Play the wind, and you'll be fine with just about any dull muted colored, quiet clothing suitable for the weather conditions. Restricting movement when game is about is a must. Let game see you move and more times than not you'll lose the contest.

If you must wear camo "Open" patterns work the best. Predator and ASAT are designed specifically to address my stated concerns--light, open patterns that won't go "dark blob" on you at a distance AND they break up your outline. The "outfitter camo" marketed by Cabela's is also one I would use. :twocents:

Buy Predator, ASAT, or Cabelas Outfitter.  Predator and ASAT do the best of eliminating your outline in addition they confuse the vision of the animal.  IMO the other major camos are more to generate sales than to actually hide you.

I'll have to get back down to cabelas to see the Outfitter clothing...do you know where I might be able to look at Predator or ASAT clothing?

Sportsman's carries some Predator... best bet would be their websites.

I looked at their website a few days ago, but I never know the quality or fit until I see them in my hands.  I just prefer to see clothes in person before purchasing, especially if I order them online...
