We didn't get to fishing till about 8:30, there were 4 other boats on the water around Possession ........ we fished the west ,east and the Horse shoe there was no bait fish anywhere .Got couple of shakers and I hooked this beautiful BM - well it turned out I had to fight with seal for it and the seal won ... :bash: That was at the time when we were the only boat out there .....he was following us for at least 3 hours holding back 100ft behind the boat  :bash: .
The picture shows what was left of my Chinook ........head only
Loki  I hope to do some fishing with you before I die  :chuckle: or you can show me the bucks on the island  - BM fishing is simple = get rid of the seal

That blows about the seal.  I think there was talk of wrist rockets and ball bearings on another thread....

I was seeing a lot of herring swirls in the shallow areas between the islands but the large bands of fish eating birds are not around out in the strait.

The seals suck my way too. Been fishing Blakley and the seals are trained there too. Last weekend we hid at Manchester and got a keeper to the boat finally.

I didn't see any seals at Eagle Bluff, nor on Lopez flats, but then again, there seemed to be no fish either.   :'(

Loki, You live in one of the best areas around the sound for blackies.

Find the bait, find it on a fltter bottom, and drag those balls in the dirt almost. Shakers are mid span, Legal fish are on the bottom!

Thanks for the tips, I've been snagging seashells occasionally, so I think I'm down low enough.  It's the bait/fish that just aren't where they should be.   ;)  I just wasn't able to get out a couple of weeks ago when they were "biting."

Anybody hitting the San Juans, please call.   :chuckle:

Friend of mine fished PNP last week mooching with a guy. Hooked 10 fish and landed 4, seals got the rest. He lives in Hansville so he fishes and knows the Point quite well. Tried to stay over the fish and keep the seals away but they were too quick. :bash: Anyway the fishin's been good there.
