I've been hunting in the Enumclaw Wilkeson area my whole life and have discovered less and less good places to hunt (i.e. locked gates or gate fees that reach over $200) I've done some scouting on the Sunset Lake road in Wilkeson (mainly because the C.C. road is gated off due to logging) Basically I'm going to have to hike in but if anybody has any ideas on some spots (I'm not asking for anyones honey hole) let me know.

i've heard that capitol forest is an okay place, just abit crowded, and there are like alot of hikers and trails and stuff...thats where i'm gonna try for my first hunting season.

I've heard some good things about hunting down in the Capitol Forrest. Problem is the distance. In years past I would go down there but. The hunting is fair to decent, but it's the same up here so I might as well save gas and hunt in an area I know fairly well. But, thanks for the input.

Go across the Hood Canal Bridge. Miles and miles of excellent Blacktail hunting all along the highway until you come to Discovery Bay. You can either park right along side the highway, or pull into a couple of the logging roads. I was always surprised I didn't see more folks hunting that area. Watch the edges of the reprod. And take something that shoots flat because chances are your shot will long... a 270 comes to mind. Then drill it in the shoulder, because if they get into the thick stuff, he'll be hard to find.

Champion property ,although expensive. But for you liveing near by it would be worth it.I think you get like 5 cords of for the $200

Whats sucks about the Champion Property is that I work for the state and have a key to the Buckley Gate to get to the water reservoir. But if I go hunting back there I not only get in all of the trouble from the game wardon, I lose my job!

really no more camping there???? Last time i hunted there it was still champion. You could camp, they had fire wood for you,and camp spots.I shot my 1st deer there ,a little 2pt.Man we use to see alot of deer in there. What i liked about it was it opened Oct 1st-8th or something for archery.I think a 3 day permit was $30....
