There are a few strike-outs/changes, but this is only the sake of discussion in the next meeting.

I mentioned it in another thread but the only real changes I noticed was a 62% increase in Margaret bull elk permits, a significant cut in cow elk permits for Winston, Toutle, and Coweeman, and then in the spring bear category Skagit went from 20 permits to 30 permits, and the season for both Skagit and Monroe was extended to June 15th (previously ended on May 31st.)
-
I noticed that the Olympic-621 Archery permits were removed from Quality Bull and moved to Bull. I think they might be able to sell a few more permits that way.
-
What is up with all of the sheep and goat stuff having lines through it? :dunno:

First thing I noticed what gives????

Moved out of the moose section (WAC) and it's new section. See PDF page number 110 of 121.

Thanks I had just got there and was coming back to update my post.

Bobcat,
I did not see a category for your hunting method. - The Hawaiian hunter method. I saw this method in person.
Knife in teeth, hunting from a tree stand. (palm tree) Jump onto back of axis deer or a 500 pound russian boar.
The axis deer was dead in seconds. The boar took longer and did not just roll over and die.
This method was used on Molokai and the big island.
I presume you hunt with bow and arrow and the permits are for archery.

I still can't believe they give out 50 Entiat archery permits, seems rediculously high to me. :twocents:

It seems high but doesn't equate to 50 deer getting taken each year. Many tags go unfilled or get used before that season starts. I know I wouldn't use my tag during the general season and once there I would hold out until the last day and possibly eat my tag if I didn't see something that really got my motor running.

The couple guys I know who've had it said its not all that easy of a tag and most ate it.

Understood, but my concern is the number of people/rigs running around in there at that time and not that I think 50 deer will be killed. ;)

looks like lighted nocks will be allowed. im a fan
-
it appears late season archers lost a couple days, late muzzy also 6 days for both

You totally lost me with this post. Sorry, but with it being the end of the day, maybe my brain is just tired. :dunno:
As for what method I hunt, I do all- modern, muzzleloader, and archery.
My comments were in regards to ALL categories.

Hope there is a significant cut in the cow tags. They put a serious hurtin on the herds in the Winston over the last few years. Hopefully they cut way back on the Toledo cow tags too!

It looks like cow tags will be cut in a lot of units.

A few days may have been "lost," but it's not due to any changes in the season structure. It's due simply to a change in the calendar (Thanksgiving falls 6 days later in the month than it did last year)

I also noticed they moved the watershed and another SE GMU buck permits from "quality hunt" to "buck hunt". Maybe they are trying to get more applicants in the "buck hunt" pool and more money in their pockets. :dunno:

if you want any changes to the regs, you have to speak up. That is the reason for this thread.
The commision is waiting for you to speak up.
I wrote the commision about no eastern 65+ EM chances.
Do you plan to write about things you care about?

Oh I hear you there, one guy with a permit, two buddies with him driving around glassing and then pushing deer to them. They could gate it off and do like they did for the winston cow hunts, with your tag your a green permit to put in your window showing that you were supposed to be there. Only one pass per permit holder so you could only have one rig per permit.

When they put up proposed changes and want our input, that just means the change is done. It's a joke when they say they want our opinion, I like the lighted noc's, but they took a day of hunting away from the muzzy elk guys in the blues and gave a day to the little naches muzzy guys (permit hunts). I'm surprised they didn't make the Margaret an over the counter tag.

Once again I see the once mighty Alta migration deer will not be given a break again. Sad to see what this area has turned into.

Used to be 150

Before that it was open for a late general archery season to all.

Random question: Is there a public comment period this year? I haven't heard anything and never saw anything on the website :dunno:

Glad I asked. Thank you sir.
-
I like seeing a cut in the permits for elk in mt St. Helens herd, but I think they need to cut it more. Tone of elk shot these last few years in there diffinatly dropped the herd to the objective goal.
-
Hate to see that the Asotin herd was hit hard enough that they didn't issue any permits this year.
-
I bet only 20 guys actually go and get out of their rigs in the archery entiat season and half that actually hike in
-
Wow More bull tags for the margaret.

I know right? I did hear from most of the guys I talked to with cow tags that they saw tons of bulls.
-
More bull tags in the blues, a general muzzy season in the blues for deer.
-
Looks like us bowhunters get switched back to 352 and 356 for early season archery and lose 346 where we were a couple years ago.
I can live with either but hope they stick with one for a while so my scouting year to year pays off.
-
boy the Archery elk season gets pushed back farther and farther away from the rut. Closes on Sept 14th in 2015. I can remember not even hunting till the 14th!!!!!
-
Looks like the archery gear will no longer be allowed during muzzy season. Did I read that right?
-

I don't think you read that right... This was under the proposed muzzleloader season for deer.
Special Notes: Muzzleloader tag holders can only hunt during muzzleloader seasons and must hunt with muzzleloader equipment (WAC 232-12-051) or archery equipment (WAC 232-12-054).
-
I like that they gave us archers in the Mason unit a late deer season
-
I would like them to take some of the 2nd deer modern tags and convert them to archery. 2nd deer archery is basically limited to island hunting on private property.

I noticed the omition in the firearm restriction section. Did not catch the inclusion in the deer season. Thanks!

Likes: getting early archery antlerless season back for the bumping and the nile; it should never have been taken away. They had faulty data.
Dislikes: First, losing little naches for early archery antlerless; we should have both to disperse the hunters as do other user groups. Second, the early archery elk season starting on the Tuesday after Labor day. We will continue to fight to get the September 8th to 21st season back; no reason why we have to hunt the pre-rut in the middle of fire season when the 8th to the 21st worked just fine. Third, season length; we need are day back to get to a full 14 days. Fourth, lighted nocks for archery; I personally don't think they belong. We have enough technology as it is.
-

I think they figure they might as well reduce the number of bulls in there before it becomes a general season hunt next year.

They did more than remove antlerless from 346 - there is no season in Little Naches at all next year.

That's the rumor.

Man that is crazy, quality to bull to general in such a short span of time. If it does go general it will be a war zone the first year for sure.
