Just curious if anyone on here has used him in the past and had a bad experience? One of my hunting buddies is about to take him to court for theft and we were wondering who else is out there that he screwed over. Saw a flyer at the sportsman show calling him a thief so there must be others.

roger is a wildlife game theft........
And then this one:
i brought in a large racoon that i skinned to be tanned to roger's a few years back ,i skinned it correctly in the hope of having my brother mount it for me later that year.i was going to school at clover park and was able to stop by at times to get the finished hide.which roger said would take 2 months to complete.after 2 months i stopped by ,he said it wasn't done yet.3rd month ,not done yet,4th month still waiting, after 6 months of getting the run a round from roger and not my hide ,I WAS GETTING MAD,he then told me that the hide was missing or lost.little did i know that roger teaches classes on taxidermy and the student start out on smaller animals.i lost a lot of resect for that bussiness and would not reccomend his shop to anyone .he couldn't be honest to my face ,and i'm sure that i wasn't the first or the last

Taxidermist who stole record blacktail deer rack.
Submitted by Don on 08/01/2002. ( don42953@earthlink.net ) 67.250.7.30
Gentlemen:
In February of of this year I took a lark set of Columbia Blacktail Deer antlers to Roger's Taxidermy in Lakewood, Washington, for mounting. I paid the full $600.00 mounting fee in full up front and the taxidermist told me the mount would be finished within 60 days. That was the last time I saw my deer antlers in person.
The blacktail rack was scored by three different P & Y Officials at 196 points typicial and was considered by Pope and Young Official's to be a New World Record. Safari Club International scored the rack somewhat higher.
Unfortunately, without my knowledge or concent, the taxidermist "Sold the exclusive story rights" to a national hunting and fishing publication for several thousand dollars; Made reproductions of the antlers for retail sale; and alledgedly "LOST" the completed deer mount before I took delivery of the trophy.
I did not even realize the story of the deer harvest had been sold, published and printed until Enforcement Officers from the US Fish & Wildlife Service and Washington State Department of Fish and Game showed up on my doorstep to look at the new world record animal.
It was very embarrassing to see my name and photographs of the completed columbia deer mount on page 22 of the July edition of "Game and Fish" Magazine.
Roger's Taxidermy has done everything humanly possible to obstruct the recovery of the record rack and I am completely at my wits end dealing with this guy!
Does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to get this guy to return my properety?
Thanks for you help!

:yeah: I agree, people should be aware that he is crooked. My buddy went today and got his stuff out, mostly unfinished and some that was finished purposly broken. He even got a phone call at 2am by one of Roger's drunk employees threatening to kick his ass if he didn't pay up! Pretty sure he is calling the Better Business Bureau to report him.
Thanks for your input....

roger screwed me to i payed him up front for my bear mount because he said it would be 2 months eight months later he said he need more money or he wouldn't finish it. he would start it and stop the hide would sit on his bench wet for god knows how long. when i finally got it it look like *censored* he cut the head of the hide because he couldn't get it right. now the hide is slipping bad and were he cut the head off there is a gap. he said he would come by and fix it how do you fix a hide that is slipping.so he gave me a 100.00 credit on my next mount so what do i do i go back and get a euro mount on my buck went to use the credit and he wouldn't take it said he cant afford it right now. and try ed to up the price so i took my unfinished stuff home so watch out if you have any dealings with this shop and his employee keep ed calling me at 230am drunk and wanting to fight me if i didn't come in and pay rogers

The taxidermist in question may have some issues, but why do I think so of the things being written about him in the past are just a little exaggerated. "Game and Fish" pays "several thousand" dollars for an article?

I took a small rack for a euro mount to him. I dealt with roger directly and he told me of a polar bear rug that was "stolen" from his shop.
-
I know for a fact he runs with some crackheads. Bad, immoral things happen in his shop. Dont ask how I know. I will just say I have a low life family member who lives in Lakehood. I wouldnt give him a dead mooses last .....

I have had 2 deer mounted from Rogers, plus numerous other things done, and have no complaints. Both heads are over 20 years old and still holding up.
The guy has been in business since back in the '70's when his shop was in Tillicum. Infact my dad and his buddy took their bear to him back in '67 to have the rug, and skull done.
With all the complaints made on him, why does the state still issue him his license? (Outside this state is money hunger).
But when dealing with all those chemicals for as long as he has some brain cell loss has to happen. Plus he has trained probably 90% of the taxi's. around here.
But people do change :dunno:

The state doesn't care who they are selling licenses to. You don't have to have any taxidermy training what so ever. As long as you pay the $200 a 2 yr old could buy a taxidermy license.
-
Gentleman, it is very simple. You file a law suit against him and his establishment. Make sure you document all your dealings. It sounds like a call to the Lakewood city attorney might be advised as well. Is he licensed to do business in the state and city!

I have the same question.
I was just looking at the Seattle Times online and when I saw "Roger's Taxidermy" it rang a bell in my head from reading this thread. I assume this is one and the same?

Thats just it... back in the day he was the man to go to for the best taxi work. I had some stuff done in the late 90's he did awesome work at resonable prices, I hadn't been in his shop (due to severe dry spell of hunting sucess due to marriage and kids being born) until 2011, took a deer to have a euro mount done, he quoted me $75 and was going to give me $15 discount for bringing two of my buddies to him. It took him 4 months to get my mount back to me and he tried to charge me $125 :yike: good thing I saved the reciept he gave me for the down payment... He was pissed when I pulled that out and handed him $60 took my rack and walked out.
