Thinking of booking a deer hunt soon for my father and myself. He's not really able to hike around here. So was curious if anyone could make any recommendations on a good outfitter. We live in Yakima but are willing to travel. Prefer mulies but not a deal breaker.

What state?
-
Washington

You might check into Tanglewood Outfitters out of Tonasket. I know some members here have had good mule deer hunts with them. Do a search for "Tanglewood" and you should find a few older threads to read.
Here is their website: http://www.twguides.com/ (http://www.twguides.com/)

Contact Dale, I'm sure he has connections.
-
Bearpaw should be able to help you out. His website has a lot of info and different hunts.
-
Talk to Dale @ BearPaw Outfitters. He's the owner of this site. I've hunted with him and he has quite the operation!

If you want montana , sun canyon lodge has a lodge hunt thats top notch that might work out

If this is an option for you, my uncle is the NW booking agent for Sun Canyon and I could get you in touch with him for more info and references. He goes every year and loves it there.

Out of state really isn't an option. And thanks for the replies so far guys. Anyone have personal experience with any of these? Doesn't matter if you got an animal as long as you felt it was worth every penny.

Bearpaw has some great hunts and accomodations. highly recommended.

What your hearing is the truth. If you want to spend time looking at all your options, do it all first, and then call Dale @ Bearpaw! Your experience will go far beyond a great hunt!

If dads health is ok you may also cincider a high buck drop camp . good way to get to the basics and enjoy the time with your pops .

I've heard good things about Tanglewood outfitters in Tonasket.

I am just up the hill in goldendale. I run more management hunts. Does and cull bucks I want off my ranches. Does he have a disabled permit by chance or are you wanting a trophy hunt?
-
No disability permit. He has knee troubles. Walks and it'll randomly give out on him. A trophy would be nice but won't pass up a shooter thou.
-
Gotcha I would send you to Dale

Does Dale have mule deer hunts in Washington?
-
Jolten, we use blinds a lot and have 90%+ success with no real hiking needed, we do have some mule deer but the vast majority of our deer are whitetail.

No but he said it was not a deal breaker so it might work for him.

I would stay west of stevens county if Mule deer is your goal. There in pockets to the east but much tougher to hunt.
-
I have a ranch hunt in Montana where I will guarantee a 4x4 or better mule or whitetail buck! We have been 100% kill for many years. But the downside is the NR License is $570.
Also have an easy ranch hunt in Utah where I will guarantee a mule buck. Licenses are $338 I think there.

Id roll with Dale.

What's your rates in Washington? And carpsniper what's your rates as well? Your a little closer to us.
-
Not to take away from anyone who guides that has been mentioned here, I have worked with Dale as a guide, and know many guys who have used Dale as a outfitter. He has one of the best deals in Wa, and I would highly suggest Dale.
If it is a mule deer you want.... You can come over to Nd.... I just happen to know where a couple are. :chuckle:

Assuming that's apiece and not package price for both you gentlemen. Seems like you both are pretty well respected which hasn't happened on any other resource I've looked into. The fact carpsniper said he'd send me Dales way blew me out of the water. That was a definite first there.

I am a outfitter but also sell hunts for other outfitters. From the states to new zealand. I have no problems sending clients to Dale. I know everyone he takes will get his 110% effort to harvest a animal just as I would give.
-
Ive hunted with Dale as well as stopped by his place for a drink and a chat a few times.
You will get everything you would expect out of him plus about 100 times more for your hunt' plus late night chats about everything hunting related you can think of, garden making, weed pulling, sprinkler line running and everything else. My experiences have been amazing and I wouldnt change anything.
-
I will also mention Tanglewood....
