Thanks! Seems like this year it's been odd, my first duck of the season was her first retrieve and it was a bwt ( my first )and then we happened to shoot a band but she didn't get to retrieve it because my dad was hunting a different spot and he killed it.. And I had the dog!

Here's a picture if the one that got away. I was offered this brit to be my hunting dog when she was 4 months old because she was too orange and too small for the field trial circuit. The trainer nicknamed her "midge" short for Midget because of her size. A quick phone call too my dad and she was heading across country to her new home in the NW. 2 summers ago when my dad dropped her back off with the trai Ed for summer camp in SD it didn't take long to realize we all screwed up, and my dad is one lucky SOB. See, little Midge grew into her body and decided she LOVED to run and point birds from ridiculously far away. The first call I got from the trainer was about 3 weeks after camp had started. She was hanging at 800-900 yards on the GPS and handling like a charm. It killed the trainer to have to bring her in. She would have made an awesome All Age dog and would have most likely had a great trial career. Oops! Now she's a perfect house dog and a hell of a foot hunting dog. But occasionally, she still shows that she wants to lay it down. I

finally some more setter action. I love labs and all, but this thread was getting ridiculous. :chuckle:
beautiful pup Don, and welcome to the forum.
-
Thank you. I got a lot of bird dog photo's but not one of any retriever. I have Pointer's, GSP's, Britt's a few gordons, couple red setter's (BTW, I have a red setter coming this summer).
-
Love to see the natural progression of a great pointing dog. At first they aren't sure and their tails sit much lower than they do when they begin to grow and gain that confidence that is so impressive in the great dogs! A little barrel work doesn't necesarily hurt either!

great looking crew Don.
-
Stilly,
The gordon Don has pictured is a littermate to the one I had the info posted about a month or two ago.She found a home for that dog in Wisconsin.
-
Don, any idea who the two Brits are!
-
Iv'e got a good guess that at least one of them belongs to Jim House, and the other might belong to Roger Borine,Joe Waitman or the Littles.
Don, any idea who the two Brits are!
-
Neither one is Jim's. One belongs Reggie Medford, the front one. The other to a guy in Redmond I think. Can't remember his name. I've got photo's of Jim but in the external hard drive. This is the only one quick to get to now. Jim with BJ winning the Gene Pullen award last year. I think it's the fifth time he's won it.

Love it, stuffed ducks! Amazing how silly a guy can get with his dog. Especially his puppy. I suspect snake eyes is 6'4 and weights 280#! His wife or girl friend ask's for a new pair of shoes and he tell's her no. His puppy wimpers for a treat and he breaks a leg getting it!lol. Don't know what it is about dog's and especially puppy's but they can drag down the harshest individual!! Good for him!!!!!!!!!!

Having a bad year, lost a canine toothe in a fight, serious allergy to a plant in MT, snake bit in NM and cut tendon when he knocked over a flower pot and landed on the broken pieces.
Waiting to heal.

That ranch has been used for trialing for a whole lot of years. I heard that there is an effort under way to put the owner in the field trial hall of fame.

Here is one of my girl. She is the one that I learned to sea duck hunt with on Kodiak island. She hunted until she was 12 years old and unfortunately her last day with me was 2 weeks ago. She was unbelievable in the big water and to think I got her from the pound. RIP Misty

Unfortunately that is something all pet owners have to go through. I have had to go through it 5 times now and it doesn't get any easier.

Moose,
Some know his story.
Adopted him at 8yrs old.
he was kept indoors, in a crate, for 8 yrs.
They tried to train him for pheasant, but said he was stubborn.
He is a natural duck dog.
He was never properly trained, has over 100 retrieves.
10 yrs old

I took care of him and got him going and have as deal that if he has to get rid of Duke, I get him. This is one super dog. i had Duke completely finished but my friend didn't want that so let him go. I would love to get him back agsain and finish him out again just to shot the b*stard that was going to put him down what he got rid of! God is Duke nice! i call him Dew.

My two labs Cooper and Gracie. Cooper was a fantastic hunter with a drive that wouldn't stop. Unfortunately, he was bitten in the face by a Copperhead and is now 80% blind. Poor guy still has the unbelievable drive, but just can't do it anymore. He still loves to play fetch by listening for and sniffing out the bumper. It still amazes me what he can do without the ability to see. Gracie is a nut! She doesn't have the drive that Cooper does, but she is still a good dog. She can be lazy at times, doesn't want to listen, and wants to do things her way. She is now 11 months old, and won't stop growing. Her parents were around 65 lbs which is one of the reasons why I got her. Well now she is 90 lbs! Love em both, and wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.

Nice looking dogs but I hate to tell you this but they peed all over your lawn and killed it. :chuckle:

Going to add a couple Birthday pic's from Friday night. The old girl (Echo) just turned 13. She is the last living member of her litter. I thought that deserved a birthday cake. The pup (Bella) was allowed to join in and in the process did a face plant in the cake. Anyways, I thought I'd share some humorous pic's...

They could be...my pups parents were bred once before and it was last summer. I know Ryan bred Delta to Bindy last year at about the same time he bred Mac to Teal (Sean Bryan owns Teal and she is out of Delta and Neve). Anyway, my pup is a Mac (Long Hollows Obsidian Blue) x Teal (Long Hollow's Hop-A-Long).

Hi all, I've just become the owner of a little Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, he's only 7wks, so I won't have possession of him for another 10 days or so, but here are some photos the breeder sent me, and I couldn't resist sharing.

Beard is cute, but a pain to dig burrs out of.
Kinda like diggin'em outta my CBR back side.
Friend would bring his wire hair over here and the poor little guys eyes and mouth would almost be held shut with burrs.

I guess that's something to look forward to...😫, though I had heard that the wire hair helps to avoid them picking up burrs?
