It's illegal in WA state. Read the regs, it's spelled out pretty clear there in the legal means of harvest/weapons restrictions section. Start with you now smossy, perfect that first.Reading every word in the regs is like reading the bible, theres way too much FINE print. I only want to read what my tasks are related to. Not that Im lazy, its just easier to ask you guys! or girls?

If you petition WDFW you may get an exemption to hunt with a spear. Its not like some states dont allow it. There is precedent out there. I would like to try and hunt with an atlatl. Good luck.In my opinion thats one of the best inventions old bushmen ever came up with, I ABSOLUTELY love the atlatl. Ive actually built one personally and had a blast with it.

Didn't end up well for them...Weve established that, I would never imagine to do something as far as breaking the law of something Im trying to turn into a lifestyle. I can still dream though! No idea whatever happened with him actually getting something or not, its been a long time since we last talked to him. Wouldn't surprise me if he got a bear with one though, that guy was crazy about getting up close to bears and successfully sticking them with his recurve.

I think it'd be interesting to see if you could get any type of game animal approved to hunt via spear. Something to look into. Very intimate way to take your animal.
