The weather is starting to feel like spring is near ...I have been threw all my gear and calls .. I have everything ready to get out and play with those Thunder chickens ...I can actually watch shows on T.V again now that there are many shows on turkey hunting and you can actually learn something from a turkey hunting show ...Not like a deer hunting show where they mention names of the deer they are going to shoot ... Ya know ...here come Alex ...get ready :dunno: :chuckle:for all the new hunters out there I can tell ya just like anyone else on here that lives to turkey hunt that these shows will teach you all you need to know about calls and how to use them ...Plus you can listen to sounds the hens are making and while you are watching get your calls out and try learning these sounds ... When i have hens answering me in the spring or fall I will try to mock what the hen is saying to me ...Alot of times she will get bad at you and come and look and see who is peesing her off ...Alot times a hen will come in 1st and walk around your Decoy and the gobbler will hang back watching her next move ..IF this happens do not call at her , let her just walk around doing what she does and usually the gobbler will work his way to you ...Just do not let her see you or game over ...if I was a beginner I would buy 2 calls...Box call and a slate call or even a push button call ...these 3 calls are the easiest to use and can make all the turkey talk you need to make ...I am pumped and ready to get out there and I am sure alot of use are ready to do the same ...Just do not forget those whit whits and doits ...easy sounds to make and deadly  Gobble gobble any questions let me know if I can help ...just do not ask where my turkey sanctuary is :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I'm new to Turkey hunting this year. I feel that the TV shows dont really offer much lol. I bought a Primos dvd that came with a mouth call, the call dont fit my mouth but the dvd is great! i highly recommend the dvd to someone who is learning how to turkey hunt.
I also bouth the Primos beginner turkey call pack, it has a box call, a slate call, and a mouth call. Again the mouth call didnt fit but for the price im ok with it.
I have gotten some tips from friends on were to go here on the west side, im gunna start scouting there in a few weeks.

I'm beyond jacked up!!!. Already got the calls out practicing. Nothing beats spring turkey season!! Planning to get a lot of days in this season that ive moved over to the eastside. :IBCOOL:

Just requested my vacation days! :IBCOOL: Trying to get the wife her first harvest ever. Im dont have any experiance with the mouth calls yet and am in the market for a new slate or bax call. What do you guys recomend?

There are so many calls out there today and most sound really good ...I have always been a Prioms fan myself but I have H.S calls - Drury Calls and Phelps calls ...I do need some from Bearmaniac too... The diaphram I bought from Phelps was an ELK Diaphram and that call will be my go to call this spring on turkeys ...it sounds awesome ... We can call it the universial call ... :chuckle: :chuckle: It will call elk and turkey at the same time :dunno: ;)

I found out last fall that elk diaphrams will double as turkey calls as well. Gonna use one this spring in combo with my slates and box call. I missed the turkey opener last year due to a friends destination wedding. I'm extra pumped for this year!

That would be awesome. My uncle called a cow elk and a bear at the same time.

Yup. We've called in a Bear and a bobcat using cow calls. Almost seems like we're doing something wrong if it werent for all the elk that have came in.

I can't wait. Going to try and get away for a couple weekends with the wife. I may try to target an Eastern this year as its been awhile since I've hunted them.
The Dragon Slayer works pretty good as a turkey call  This call will also be included in my new turkey hunting mouth call package.

I'm gearing up and getting ready to make some weekend hunts for some thunder chickens! The season can't start soon enough!

I'm ready, but Congress passing a budget (by March 1) and possible sequester may be a deal breaker ... with the ensuing job furlough of a day a week for 22 weeks (a 20% pay cut) after 2-1/2 years without a raise. Most of my friends have already bailed on a spring hunt, and normally I'ld just go anyway ... but can't depend on Congress to do what they need to do, so have stopped all planning at present. It may end up being a last second go or no-go.
:dunno:

You should go! I'm getting laid off on 3/29 but it hasn't dampened my spirits. Already have a week of springer fishing and unlimited turkey hunting on my mind. Job search won' t start until atleast May. Severance package lasts through July plus unemployment if need be. Its gonna be a fun spring!

Great attitude ...
I guess I've got it pretty good just possibly losing a day a week ... figured I could always use an extra day a week to persue the elusive Eastern phantoms. And I guess you can never get back any lost time in the turkey woods.
