Congrats

WOW good luck

Time to hit the gym!
Will you be using an outfitter?
-
Congrats! That's awesome! Are you hiring a guide or do you have family that can take you hunting?
-
No moose. No caribou.

Thanks. I need to hit the gym hard!! I'm not in good cardio shape right now. I'm going to try to lose about 15 lbs of fat and muscle by Oct 1!
No outfitter I'm going next of kin.
Craziest thing about this whole deal is there are 3 permits available and my long time hunting partner who was in my wedding in May drew one of the other two!!!! Back in 2008, the last year that we were residents we both drew one of the 40 archery permits that are available for residents. Had wayyyy to many chances to not come home with a ram. W couldn't believe it when we checked this morning. Talk about a one in a million deal.
I will be creating a post for this for sure

Nice AK, I've started a couch to 5k program at my local YMCA, maybe something like that might help you kick off the training. Congratulations!
-
Thats awesome AK, can't wait for you to come back with some great pics and stories for us.
-
congrats, I look forward to hearing your story and seeing your pics...

I didn't even apply this year, lol. I'm hitting the Haul Rd for caribou and just the Valley for moose! That is a great sheep tag!

Thanks for the congrats everyone I really appreciate it. I just got off the phone with my buddy, this is really not believable. We're already talking strategy! After going 0-5 archery sheep hunting I honestly had written killing a sheep with my bow, this being the only tag I would hunt this yr considering the $ it will cost to do it right, new job, just married etc.
We know most of the area really really well, we used to spend days and weeks on end hiking and camping all over Chugach State Park when we were in high school. This will be my second time hunting this tag and my buddies second as well. It's now or never for me if I want an Archery Dall Ram!!!!
I ordered a Go Pro cam tonight that will be coming along for the trip

So the blacktails will get a break from you this year? Lucky for them!
-
Nice draw! What were your odds?
-
Awesome! Keep us up to date on your progress. I would Love to get a sheep with a Bow. I'm looking into doing a dyi archery moose or 'bou this year, either on the haul road or ? Have a friend down in homer with a boat, not sure what moose is like in that area.

After killing 3 BT's 3 yrs in a row with archery gear I haven't killed anything with my bow for two years! The blacktails have been pretty safe with me around thats for sure. But no, they don't get a break. I'll be in a stand somewhere in blacktail country this November that's for sure.
In fact I have a stand to pull and a cam to check Sunday

Congratulations cant wait for the pics and story
-
Does nobody else think it's odd that you can look up anybodies draw results in Alaska?
-
Good job on that sheep tag! My buddy and I didn't draw anything.
-
Outstanding! I drew a caribou permit for the Denali Highway area. :IBCOOL:
-
Really looking forward to seeing and hearing about this hunt from you. Congrats on a draw for a great hunt

I have pics from my 2009 Chugach archery hunt I need to transfer from an exteernal hard drive to a laptop. Once I do that I will post them up on here and write up a story on the 09' hunt.
Crazy happenings that year, I'm not exaggerating when I say that it took my body 2 months to fully recover. I need to hit the gym!
-
Good luck and I look forward to pic's and a story!
-
What a dream hunt!

I know I just looked up my hunting partners to see if he drew a moose tag. He didnt now I know for sure we are going to wyoming for deer. Wooo Hooo.

What a dream hunt!
Definitely. Been working up here this week and spoken with a number of Dr's that are drooling over my tag! Its getting tougher to draw every year for sure. I will post pics and a story from my 2009 hunt on this thread once I get the photo's transferred.
Thanks for the support everyone. I think if I dont kill a ram on this hunt I will just stay out there and die with them!
-
That is AWESOME!!! I'm jealous
My brother got drawn for elk and a cow moose....I didn't put in this year.
