New to the area and I know about eastern WA. but where in eastern would be a good place to hunt dove. Any help would be great. Thanks

I've hunted them a bit around Moses lake and around the Crab creek chanel area. Did Ok with some decoys at times. Problem is most of the doves head south by the time season opens.

There is quite a bit of dove hunting here in Yakima, but its kind of the good ole boys club. Who has what access to what orchards. Mostly all private...who you know that sort of thing.

Where else over there would you try? Any ideas if you don't know anyone.

Wells wildlife area just west of Brewster. They {the state} plants quite a bit of grain there. It was gray with them last year.

They seem to be plentyfull this year. I've seen a lot of them this year.

What about on the west side?? I'm from Silverdale and wouldn't mind getting out, any ideas?

I had a flock fly over my head of about 50 last night. I also noticed a pile of them on the wires. I've seen a few all summer, but this was genuine flocking activity. Does that mean they are about to get the heck out of dodge or what.

They're starting to concentrate a bit more since we had that cold spell a week or so ago. The young birds are flying now and you'll see more than just pairs more often than singles and doubles. I've had to sit at football practice in Selah and watch them cruising back and forth for the past two weeks. Hopefully I can find some ground like we found last season. Just takes the right mix of wheat, water and trees. They'll be around for the whole season, people just love to give up on them after Labor Day. In my opinion the hunting is better the second half of the season than the first half.
I've been itching for dove season since i bought an O/U 20 ga last year.

I've been working around the Dodson rd area south of I-90 thats west of Moses Lake most the summer and lots of doves but that cold snap did something and they were not there last weekend. They may be this weekend I don't know but if I were planning on a weekend I would take a fishing rod just in case. The large mouth are hungary and extra heavy this time of year.

Which group are you watching? my boy is on the 3rd grade team. kind of makes Saturday hunting a bit tougher with the games but he and i will get out after them or before if it's a late game.

Went out on the opener and had a pretty pour flight actually, me and my dad both limited but the other three guys in our group only came out with 10 combined. Didn't get to go out the second decided to head to the Dave mathews concert, but am heading out again tonight. Good luck and smokin barrels to everyone
