On my dad's results this year it shows that he is an alternate for a goat unit here in this state. Does that mean if someone doesn't buy a license, dies, or can't make it he is next in line to buy the tag? Never knew they even did "alternate" in this state.

Yep, if somebody doesn't come up with the $$, he gets a chance at it.
-
Not that I would wish unwell on someone else who actually was first choice, but Good luck to your Dad!

I drew as an alternate for moose a couple of years ago. Its a total slap in the face if you ask me. I was figuring the odds of someone not claiming their tag were about 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.4355254647.

Same hear was the alt. 3 years ago so I called to find out about it they only do for the big 3 where they have limited draws. No such luck hear either everyone came up with the $ >:(

Funny MS....those are the actual odds of getting a tag in the first place. throw another 6 zeros on there for realtime odds of being picked as the alternate.

Yep, I always figured they drew an alternate, but did not figure they would necessarily notify a person until they actually had an opportunity for the tag. I probably wouldn't get my hopes up , but you never know, someone may end up with an injury or something and turn they tag in.
