- The photo must pertain to hunting or fishing or the outdoors in some fashion and it must match with the current months theme.
-Photo size MUST be 800x600 pixels or LESS
-2 entries per contestant are allowed per month. If more than 2 entries are submitted the first two elegible ones will be the ones accepted for the contest.
-Entries must be submitted by midnite of the 26th of the current month(September) in order to qualify for that Months contest.
-Photos of Washington material will receive preference in judging as the winner will be posted on the front of a Washington site. Though I am thinking a good Montana or Idaho bull will do this month.
-Previous Photo of the month entries will not be eligible for this months contest
-The winner of the previous months contest is not eligible for the next months contest. (Sorry bowsandhose, you'll have to sit this one out)
-Entries will be accepted or rejected as is, meaning the judges will no longer enhance, or alter images. Resizing is legal if you can talk a moderator into doing it for you.
The photos will be evaluated by a panel of Judges made up of Boneaddict, Jackelope, Billy the Kid Rock, Huntwa, Shadow cat Bobcat Tl Bradford, Slenk, and Sisu. The winner (NO TIES) will be announced as soon as we come to a majority decision.
The Winner will have their photo posted on the front page ( I need to confirm if there will be another hat or not this month.)

Pope certainly does a great job touching up a good photo into a great one, especially for the saturation of color tone. It is challenging for me to work on the jpg file (raw gives more freedom to work with). Much to learn from him.
-
+1 for Pope doctoring up my pics
This pic is from a trip on the Sauk for some natives.

I just got word from Charles (ZRS-8x42) that he would like to offer a Lenspen for the winner this month. Thanks you for the kind offer Charles.
Good luck!
-
Here is a sunset, how do you get ride of the spots that show up? Do you need a special filter?
-
I might have to take the week off to be in the woods when it comes time to judge this month. WOW.
-
Here's one.

My 11 year old son's second deer high above the snake right at dark. It was a long steep drag, navigating through cliffs in the dark down to the river. Those experiences with your son are unforgettable!
-
I will give it a shot
-
From this spring...
-
That pheasant is great lookin
-
Do we have a winner yet? or are we past the deadline? :dunno:
-
Do we have a winner yet? or are we past the deadline? :dunno:
I believe the deadline is 26th of each month.
-
This is my son's first deer. He was 10 at the time.
-
ZRS is correct. You still have time to enter. This months winner should certainly be proud as there is some great competition.
-
Where up north?
-
My nephew's first Crappie not bad for a Cali kid
-
This is my son's first deer. He was 11 at the time.
It is a great picture. Don't forget to sign him up for Ray's binoculars give-away in the general discussion area. I am always amazed by the talent the kids demonstrated when they started young.
-
And after I sent it i realized what a bad dad I am since he was only 10!
-
remember to be resizing your pictures to the specifications! i wouldnt want any of these to get disqualified for not being correct in size!!!
800x600!

I didn't even bump up the saturation on this one. In fact, I unsaturated a bunch of the reds (blood) like on his hands and the mouth of the ram. The only thing I really did was take out the blood and bump up the contrast, then re-crop.
Part of the problem I have with photos is that my monitor displays different than yours. My monitor at home really shows the colors off, while my monitor at work is really flat. If I adjusted a photo on my flat monitor, it looks way too saturated on my home monitor. Your monitor may be different. Remember, when you see a photo that has been doctored up and may be too saturated or not quite right, that person may have a different monitor than you and it may look more normal on their monitor. Just food for thought...
-
I'll throw a couple in. One from the blue mountains, the other from Wyoming.
-
Those are really good photos EastWAViking. Nice stuff.
-
EastWaViking you beat me to it. :bash:
-
This is a picture of my Father when I came back to him after a morning archery elk hunt. He said I left him to long on stand and the moss that grows on trees started to grow on him. It was a great trip!

On my way up north to go fishing.

This is my first elk.

Beautiful rack, :dunno: Why do you guys (see alot on here) keep cutting the heads off at the base of the skull? Cape it and make a dollar or two it will pay for your gas or buy you something extra nice if your not going to mount it.... Taxis buy them, especially mature bulls like that.... Do one each year and keep a tab going, maybe you'll get a free mount after a couple years... Again very nice animal...
-
I'm thinking "why not mount a 342?" what are you waiting for a 400? 342 is frickin big!
-
OMG. I'm not sure I can compete with the photos this month. I'm going to have to sit this one out... :)
-
How about some winter steel!?!?!? :)
-
wow.. I am impressed by the talents on this forum. :)
-

Something about this pic, I really like it, the grass with the yotes hair color, and the contrast of a sweet AR.
I just think the animal could have been posed better with the AR, and angle the camera lower.
Nice shot.
-
Good to see you around some more Elkman I hope all is well! I love the colors in your pic there ... I'm not even going to pretend to have a pic worthy of this month!

Knowing Firefighter4607, He probably will kill an elk in the 400 range someday! The man dose not kill "small" animals! I have shot some really decent Muley bucks with him due to the fact that they were not what he was looking for. I know he is very proud of that 7x7 bull, he had a horn mount done with the antlers. :)
-
sweet pics every one
-
As usual, last winter the salmon were running pretty hot and heavy in the creek near the house. One afternoon on the way to my treestand I came across this rotting chum that had completed the cycle of life. I stopped and took some photos while being feverishly splashed by others still on their fateful journey.
Since childhood, I've always loved watching the salmon spawn. I even tested some lofty "kid" ideas on how to catch garbage bags full of salmon to take home for dinner. The salmon's determination was more deep-rooted than mine, and I didn't last long on my hiney in a stream in November. Damn that was cold!
It's such as contrast to the modern world to see how their primitive instinct drives them to jump, twist, flop, and otherwise muscle past anything in their path, only to wind up fertilizing the very stream they were conceived in. I thought this photo captured the expression of that irony.
-
It is also a great camo pattern!

I would of caped it but it was about a 2 mile hike out of the Water Shed and my dad didn't know if he could pack it on the horses so I packed it out and it was very very heavy already. I am going to put my story up about that hunt in a few days

Nice shot.
I wasn't thinking about putting it in a contest when I took the pic with my camera phone. I just really like the color contrast with the good old black gun
-
Hope this fits. Promise Land early 1980"s
-
I'm saving my entry until I take a picture of a huge gagger bull moose with a happy hunter behind it... :)
-
I think I might know who that'll be! ;)
-

September 8th, opening day bow season (elk) western Washington. I use the morning dew to see if the elk were feeding. If they've been there, they leave trails in the dewey grass, as you can see in the photo. The sun burning up the fog and filtered light through the alders made for a neat moment so I stopped and snapped a few photos.
-
The first photo is of the Idaho high country on my 2008 archery elk hunt. The second is on the Tatoosh overlooking the Ohanapacosh on the SE side of Mt Rainer.
-
Here is a grouse from my recent moose trip.

Here is my 3 year old English Pointer Mona on her opening day of the 08 Pheasant season in Sunnyside. It took her about 5 min to locate this guy. It was her first ever pheasant !
-
Here is a Buck I tagged this Monday morning on the Klickitat river breaks. You can see Mt. Adams and Rainer in the background.
-
Nice pic, congrats
-
well have fun deciding the winner on this one, i dont think im ever goin to win one of these things
awsome pictures guys
-
Oh I don't know Hound, be optimistic of our trip. A pic of a 6x9 whitetail with droppers chargin in is always a sure bet for winning, course you have to remember to close the jaw, focus and take the pic. Thats usually my problem. Or a 30 inch muley on the winter range is a good bet for the winter one.
-
Heres my submission from my backcountry bear.

Hey guys remember entries must be submitted by midnite of the 26th of the current month(October) in order to qualify for that months contest. You might want to remove them so they are eligable next time you want to enter :twocents:
-
Oops, my fault. Month is flying by way to fast.
-
No worries SS, you think its flying by, try having a moose tag in your pocket ;)
-
LOL! I can imagine. I'm trying to get ready to move. Gotta catch a plane on Dec 7th. Might not happen though since I may be medically uncleared to take this assignment.
