Can anyone give me some recommendations for one or the other? I am obviously looking for a lower priced set of binos but want to get the best I can buy for under $300. Looking to use for Elk, Turkey, Deer, Bear, etc. Best low light? I don't know if the HD puts a premium on those binoculars or if the lifetime warranty on the Vortex is a better reason to go that route. My hands are not the steadiest so I also know the 10X may be a stretch. Is one better or worse than the other with regards to images and having the shakes? I plan on going and trying them both out over the weekend but I hate trying to make a decision while looking at a head on the wall, at less than 100 yards, indoors. Would appreciate any feedback from those of you who have tried them.

If your on a budget and want compact I have a 8x and a 10x and love them both. I tend to use the 10x more often for birding and hunting.

Is this a trend starting? Thanks for the feedback so far. I know ELKNUT1 is a great source on the Vortex.

I have had very good luck with lower end Bushnell products, as well as Vortex products. If I were you I would go with Vortex simply for the warranty... I bought a Vortex scope $600 from Optics Planet they sent the wrong scope a cheaper model, I called Vortex telling them what happened with OP , Vortex sent me what I paid for and it arrived the very next day.....Go with Vortex they go the extra mile

I have the Vortex Diamondback in a 10x42. I bought them because they were only $119 (new.)
I like them, especially considering the price I paid, but if I had to choose between the two listed in the original post, I would probably go with the Bushnell.
The reason is that the Bushnell has "Rainguard" which is a coating on the lenses that keeps them from fogging up in the rain. I hear it works just as advertised, and I feel it would be a great advantage to have in a hunting binocular.
