Post by: arees on March 03, 2013, 09:04:14 AM: I 2009 I drew the Monroe spring bear tag. With a lot of help from people on this site I learned quite a bit about bear hunting. I was trying bear calling in a small clearing at the end of an overgrown logging road and finally decided that nothing was coming in. As I walked out I met up with a sow and cubs walking in. I guess I should have waited longer.

They bailed off the side of the road and down a steep hill. I ran over to where they dropped out of sight to try to get some photos. As I was staring down the hill with my camera in hand I heard a noise just above my head. I looked up and this guy was looking down at me from about ten feet away.

I decided that I didn't want to piss off his mother so I beat a hasty retreat.

Later in the day I connected with this guy standing in the middle of a clear cut.

I bought it off Craigs list in 2007 for a $120. It's hauled out 10 deer, and 1 bear.

This was my good buddies first bear! He was very appreciative of you for your help. He got a beautiful rug done, and its on his wall at home. He got another one out there with that 30-30 the next year too. I'll thank you again for him :tup: :hello:

Cool :tup: I'm glad hear he took another one. We had a good time helping him out. Getting game out is part of the fun.

This was my good buddies first bear! He was very appreciative of you for your help. He got a beautiful rug done, and its on his wall at home. He got another one out there with that 30-30 the next year too. I'll thank you again for him :tup: :hello:

Did you buy or make that cart? i was thinking of buying like a baby style with 100 lbs max weight to pack animals out with...then thought might need something with more then a 100 lbs max weight... what brand is that or is it homemade?

I bought from a woman on craigs list. She had a garage full of them. There is no brand name on the cart, and I don't remember if there was one on the box. It is good for up to 170#. I have had 200+ in it, and it held up fine. I hauled my brother and his gear for about a mile. :chuckle:

He did get his bear! I don't have a picture right now.

Found him napping in the thick. 20yrd shot with 12g 00buck and my Mossberg 500. What seemed to be miles deep in the woods ended up being a 200yrd drag to the truck! Great day!

Post by: brew on March 13, 2013, 08:08:04 PM: here are some bear pics i have....first ones are of a high mountain deer hunt we took a few years back in the Alpine Lakes area. Saw 15 different bears on that deer hunt but the only ones we saw in range were sows with cubs. the one pic is of the sow that we got within 60 yards before we saw junior...she took off and when she did junior ran up the tree. pretty cool cuz he was hanging onto the top swaying back and forth before he dropped and took off following her. next pics are of the spring hunt my cuzin and i had on Copalis land and got a couple (please forgive the hair style)....lastly is the 3 legged one i got a couple years ago hunting with my bride around Humptulips...his right front leg was gone at the knee-it was all calloused over and don't know what happened to cause it...got a 1/2 body mount done on him. i've only killed 4 bears and my wife was with me on all of them-guess she's my good luck charm
