Ok guys,
This one is for anyone who has hunted the kettle falls area before.
As it stands now, that's where my rookie turkey season will be .
My question is , what's the weather like around there in recent springs.
Anyone had luck? Or maybe no luck at all. Anyways. Any. Feedback it great as always .
Sincerely ,
Apex

No turkeys around there....
-
Depends on when your planning on going!! You will need your good undies in the early season and it very well could dump some snow on ya as well!! Later in the season it's T-shirt's once all the hordes give up!!
:chuckle:
Depending on where your at you just might call in a wolf, or a cougar also!!
-
What part of the state tends to be warmer in the spring
?
-
springs are wacky here, we get it all.
The old saying "you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes" was invented in NE/WA.
-
If your looking for warm I'd try down by the dalles!!
Even out west of Spokane can get snow! It will almost be guaranteed to have heavy frost any of the opening mornings for the first week or so!!
really warm would be Oklahoma and it opens the 5th of april

Some of the funest turkey hunting I ever did was in the Asotin area. Asotin wildlife area and Cheif Joseph wildlife area. Very nice country.
Having said that I have spent some Time tring to kill one around Kettle Falls. Try Sherman Creek Wildlife Area.
First year I went, I went the opener. Snowed every day. Never saw a bird.
It seems like if it rains hard they are silent for a couple days afterwards.
Makes it tough.
I only hunt public lands.
Good luck
We are waiting till May his year. Went in May last year had a good time but still rained for two days. Spent one night in my buddies truck stuck in the mud.
Ahhhhhhh the stories

Ah ya - the trademark of a coastie.
Drive a big jacked up rig with huge tires and get em stuck in the middle of a nice road.
I could get a Chevy Luv on 14 inch tires through and not scratch a tire but noooo.....not a coastie
damm coasties :chuckle:

We should start a thread
You might be a Coastie if:
1) you find yourself stuck on wet grass
-
one year there was a good bird on the hill behind Super one!! it was hilarious to see the crowd watching him with the local police sitting there watching them!! He just spun and twirlled all over the hill.
Or watching the guy run down the shoulder of the hiway blazing away at a bird on the tracks by Mckern's

I've hunted in snow in Teanaway and Spokane for turkeys.
Watch out, some of the State lands are scheduled for burning this spring around Colville, not sure which ones though.

Now now boys be nice. We got stuck helping two other fellows out. Who we did not know. Yes we were all coasties.
I have had one cup coffee in my life and I spit it out 40 years ago.
I do like your Safeway though free Wifi
And yep I wear camo sometimes because I am just two tired at the end of the day to dress up for you guys.
But it is old camo .
I will say you have a very nice neighbor named Kelly White.

Colville Safeway, no box stores in Kettle Falls unless you count a Harvest Foods
There is a good german bakery though, the real thing too. The gal has german roots and studied baking in germany for a good number of years.
on the main street - yellow sign on the sidewalk
-
Yep Colville Safeway.

This guy must be a transplant Northeastie because he got two wreckers stuck on the same road with winches on both ends of the trucks. Darn Northeasties.
 :IBCOOL: :chuckle: :sry:
-
Maybe this is better, notice the name on the truck.
-
I've seen those trucks around, but I couldn't tell you who it is, I've never had to be towed out.
They must make their living towing out coasties :dunno:
They show up to a stuck coastie in need, pretend to get stuck themselves, and leave the coasties up a muddy road without a tow and still soak em for 300 bones.....I got that right?
Yep
But it is more like taking pity on him. He wanted over a $1000.00 and he never got with in 100 yards of us. We jacked it up with a highlift the next day and got ourselves out. With the help of the nice gentleman I mentioned.
He was stuck alright, took him 2 hours or more to get his truck out with another wrecker. Really didn't have to pay him a thing but felt sorry for the poor Northeastie.
And yep having fun. But it's bed time.

based on your thinking they must be hiring coasties. :yike:
-
Even guys like me that live in KF (last name Sublie) think KFhunter is a doofus :yike:
-
you guys kill me ... anywhere in particular you want us to leave a pile of feathers :dunno: Lmao !
-
It is all in good fun. Gotta jab a little bit. I am long past the time that I cared what others thought of me. I understand the coastie thing. We get the same thing here during Tulip Festivial. You dont have to be hunting to run into folks that don't have a clue. And some of these folks that invade us just like the Northeast are complete dumb as.............
But we are getting close to hijacking this thread if we havent already. KF if you see a fat guy walking around with a ghost on his back comon over I will buy you one.
Be over in May.
To the OP I give this advice (I have never killed a bird) If the hunt is as important as the kill, if you are not a road hunter, if you are planing to hunt public lands, and you want to try to call them in rather than bushwack them. Go Later, skip the opener.
Far less hunters and a overall better time. :twocents: Not sure its worth :twocents:

You guys don't get me wrong, I'm just having a little fun and sure don't mean any harm by it :chuckle:
I actually like the "coasties" and I don't mean it as a dirty word or insult, I got better words for that ;)
For the record I welcome of the out of area hunters who bring much needed revenue to the local motels, restraunts, guides etc. I chat em up at the gas stations, or at Sandy's if I sneak over for some breakfast. I'll ask em if they're having any luck and if they're friendly (they always are) I'll offer up some advice if they seem like they need it.
No, I got no ill will towards those from the west side of the state.
If we can't poke a little harmless fun then what the hell :dunno:

I have had one cup coffee in my life and I spit it out 40 years ago.
I'm a non coffee drinker too (and a coastie I suppose). As a kid, my dad would always try to get me to drink some of his coffee when were were out duck hunting. It was probably 30 years ago when I spit out that damn coffee. :puke:

Be careful about saying bad things about coasties. My best man at my wedding was a coastie. If you say bad things about coasties around here, you may as well forget ever boarding a plane or purchasing a weapon.
I know there are some coasties around Spokane.
Homeland security agents sometimes do not have a sense a humor.
The ones I see escorting the ferries are manning 50 caliber machine guns. Undercover coasties are quick to draw their weapons on the ferry. Expect to spend lots of hours explaining yourself at the Coast Guard detention center.
-
Not coast gaurd coasties. He was refering to westsiders. KFHunters flatlander jargon has people confused.
