Title: Alaska lakers and snow machining
Post by: TeacherMan on March 12, 2013, 11:16:47 PM
Had a great day riding and ice fishing in the Lake Louise area. Love the spring time in AK. Got little wind burned but weather was perfect. Tons of lynx tracks and marten all over as well. Found some new trapping area even ;)

Nice!  How thick was the ice and how deep were you fishing?

Ice was still about 40" put the 18" extension on and didn't need it. We where fishing shallow. Got that one in 18'. The burbot are in spawning in 5-8' so the whitefish follow them in and the lakers hang just outside eating the whitefish. Ugly stick ice rod with 15 lb PowerPro a Glo 3/8" jig with White Glo 3" tube filled with neon green salmon flavored Smelly Jelly. Partner was using same thing except 1 oz and 6" tube. Both tipped with hooligan.

Awesome, sure beats the 6 inches I usually fished on at Hog Canyon.  :):)

I should have got a pic of my auger with the extension on. I stood up on my snow machine so I was tall enough.
