Title: 5'3" Color Phase Black Bear Rug. Closed Mouth (MNTaxidermy)
Post by: Michelle_Nelson on March 18, 2013, 02:36:50 PM: Here's a pic of a 5'3" Color Phase Black Bear Rug with a Closed Mouth. I've had this one done for over a month but havn't had time to get any pictures posted up. I've got quite a few more pictures of Mounts/Rugs to post I just havn't had time. I had a few minutes today so decided to post these up.

Never been asked to do a closed mouth before on a Black Bear Rug. I couldn't find a closed mouth rug shell in any of the catologs that I liked, so I made the rug shell for this rug. I think it turned out pretty nice!

I really like the way this one turned out. I like the Closed Mouth. This is one of my favorite rugs that I've done.

I have a random question - what's the appeal of the closed mouth? Is it because everyone always gets theirs open, or is it because it's a much harder task to do? :) just curious as I seen a lot of people comment on that part of it.

One of the reasons people like a closed mouth bear over an open mouth bear is because it is more common. The majority of the bears seen in the woods are going to have a closed mouth. It is more natural.

The more I look at this rug the more I like a Closed mouth vs. an Open mouth.
