Title: What's a 30-06 spam can worth?
Post by: shadowless_nite on March 19, 2013, 09:17:44 AM
I posted this for sale in the classifieds for my brother who recieved it from a friend. I have no clue what its worth in todays time. Any idea what reasonable asking price is. We have 2 unopened cans.

Those are 200 rounds, loose packed for $98.  Nite has 192 rounds of clipped garand ammo in bandoleers.  They were selling those for $125 before they ran out.  It is ball, FMJ and has steel in it, so most ranges won't let you use it.  I would pay $150 a can for it if you were up North.

I stand corrected, you're right $125 plus $12 for shipping for a total of $137.

If its steel core AP it goes for $2 a round.

It is 150 grain ball, not AP.

It just has steel in the jacket.  AP is a whole different animal.  The ranges are worried about the HXP sparking and causing fires.  Not likely in the winter in Western Washington.

Surplus AP .30-06 is "usually" corrosive and not worth $2 a round in my opinion.

I would like some ap just for the bullet, to load in some 300 win mag and see how thick of steel it can punch through.

It isnt.  If it was the can would be marked as such.
