Just leave the member's name on a reply here so Bearpaw can fix them. They're one of the things mucking up the forum lately. Thanks,
PMan

Is mine too big?  Sometimes I have to ask that.  The answer is usually a laugh and a no.  :chuckle:

Mine is huge (avatar). Do I have to upload it again?

Hey is yours a link from a photobucket or other image-hosting website? I wonder if that might be the issue, the built-in resizing the forum was doing, isn't resizing any images from other image-hosting websites now.

Actually that's EXACTLY it, if you go to source-info for ANY of the avatar images that are oversized, they're all links to photobucket. Sounds like a website fix bearpaw needs to go look into.

Agreed

To increase load speeds we were advised to discontinue auto resizing of avatars and ask members to size their own, that it would speed up the forum, so that is why we are resizing the oversized avatars. They are no longer auto-sized.

We were also advised to remove avatars from any user who has not posted recently, so we we removed avatars from anyone who has not posted in the last 90 days. This is another action that helped speed the forum back up.

Ohh I gotcha, hmm maybe just remove the upload option from a URL? OR, you could add in a tiny disclaimer underneath that option stating that they need to resize their photobucket images to 120x120? There's like, a bazillion users, I'm not sure all will get the memo lol :)

Tony,
Because yours is animated I can't fix it, you need to go into your photobucket and resize there.

If I do it you will lose the flash.

Think I resized all the others mentioned.

It's real easy, just highlight your avatar photo then right click on your photo, save, then resize or crop as desired. Be sure it's no larger than 120 x 120. Then upload the resized photo in your profile.

Done Again, thanks everyone for helping.  :hello:

Resizing
For anyone wanting to do their own. It's real easy, go to your profile, left click on your avatar photo, right click on your photo, save to desktop, then open and resize or crop as desired. Be sure it's no larger than 120 x 120. Under "Modify Profile" click on "Forum Profile", choose "Upload an avatar" click "Browse" to choose your resized photo, go to the bottom of the page and click "Update Profile".

FYI
To make load speeds faster we were advised to discontinue auto resizing of avatars because it is resource intensive and ask members to size their own avatars, that is why some avatars need to be resized now. We were also advised to remove avatars from any user who has not posted recently, so we we removed avatars from anyone who has not posted within the last 90 days. This also helped speed the forum back up.

mine are all 120 or smaller so has to be some other weird glitch...not a crisis just was odd, have not had this problem before.
ok so still running into this..here is what I can tell so far all the ones that dont work were ones that used to work...they are photos taken by another person however they are jpg/jpeg and within the 120x120 pixel none are over 50kb ....I even tried messing with one renaming and compressing and still no can do will not work says too large or not an avatar in the pink alert thingy :dunno: :dunno:

Please send 2 or 3 that won't work for you to my email and I will see if I am able to put them on your profile: dale@bearpawoutfitters.com

THANKS,
Dale

Mine is huge (avatar). Do I have to upload it again?

Hey is yours a link from a photobucket or other image-hosting website? I wonder if that might be the issue, the built-in resizing the forum was doing, isn't resizing any images from other image-hosting websites now.

That is correct, we disabled auto resizing of avatars shown from image hosting websites, this creates a little work but takes a some load off the forum server. Max upload size of photos for avatars is set at 120 x 120.
