Title: Post early season doldrums
Post by: EastWaViking on October 01, 2008, 10:57:21 AM
So early season is over, Archers have to wait until mid Nov. to get back after the bucks.  Sure there is
waterfowl season, and birds to hunt, but does anybody else have the post early season doldrums
like I do today?

What was wrong with your early season?

My early season was uneventful...mostly because I didn't get out as much as I wanted.

Still got plenty to do before the late hunt...including bear, cougar, bobcat, and 'yote hunting. Also, still gotta get into a couple more high lakes before the snow hits.

Tinkering with my new bow will take care of the rest of that time!

I am trying to convince myself not to go hunting tonight for bear...

but it is getting harder to resist...the day looks great, trees are changing...

sigh...

Really looking forward to deer season though...its always such a good time..

I missed a 26" buck on Saturday and went through the process of making myself "OK" with eating tag soup, but........it is only one day after early archery has closed and I am positive that I will be out and about in November!

That first week of late archery is amazing!  Peak of the rut, and a lot of big WT bucks survive the rifle season.

I get in the woods and still hunt, some of my favorite hunting.....still a month and a half away.

I hear ya Eviking that first week kicks butt, Usually tag out that week and if I don't it seems like things start to get really slow, the early season was one of the most uneventfull ones ever for me and I really tried hard, deer and elk just weren't cooperating.

man brings a tear to my eye  :chuckle:

actually it sucks being the guy who tags out opening day. then you are stuck tagging along with everyone else and you see all the monster bucks while the guys you are with never see anything.
