Has anyone heard if any progress has been made in opening the gates at BBQ flats? I know the landowner locked them, but has any deal been reached with WDFW to open them?
-
Screw the land owner... Go around the back side !
-
Where exactly are you talking about?

I know...but it is such a long drive just to get to milk canyon!!
-
Where exactly are you talking about?
Two gates when heading southwest off Meloy road from Wenas.
-
Well if the gates remain locked then going around to the 1701 from 410 seems the only other way in. Unless you can find a road from the north end, but I dont know of one.
-
Are we talking about the gate on the top of Manashtash Ridge at Barber Springs road?

No.
It's the cluster of gates in red on this map:

You can always take Hog Ranch Rd up to the 1701 and back down , or go up Clemens from the Wenas feed station and around that way :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Clemens can be a sonbeech sometimes. There are ways around his stubbornness !
-
:dunno:

If a person has good legs and is in good shape, just park at waterworks on the frontside of clemans and you will get around to there in a few hours. That's what I do
-
the best way is up 1701 then first right or at rocky prairie

THat is the way I have been going. It works, but I just wish I had that access from below.
-
1701 seems to be the preferred way :dunno:
Just a reminder if you use that route, that is a U.S.F.S. road and it is patrolled. Dont run your quads on that portion unless they are street legal. Closely escaped a ticket a couple of years ago :tung:

How do you make a quad street legal in this state?
-
I didn't know they were legal up there at all.
-
they are legal on the 342 side

Got it, thanks. :)

They are not street legal. But most guys up in the woods think they are. They main point was/is dont ride them on U.S.F.S. roads.
-
I thought the polaris side by side EV the electric version was street legal and was license (able). I was told it fell into the electric car loop hole. I was going to buy one.

How close is this area to milk lake? Shot my 1st deer right above the lake but have not been up there for over 20 years.

Not close by any means.
BBQ flats is off the Wenas area and Milk Lake is off HWY 410.

I saw one for sale a few years ago that was street legal, it had mirrors, street tires, windshield and a licence plate. I didn't see the title but the guy said he took it to the state patrol to get it inspected and it was street legal. It was a Polaris 700 if I remember correctly.

BBQ flat rd will be closed indefinitely, end of story........so goes the story on the hill.
Beware, some of the area on the Wenas side of Clemens, is closed to ALL entry, until May 1st.
