Anyone seen the antelope planted on the Reservation lately? Any info on how they are doing? Numbers up, down, how is last years crop of fawns doing? Thanks!
-
I haven't seen many for quite awhile but a week or two ago I saw a group of 15 or so in the Horse Heaven Hills, only a couple miles outside of Prosser.
-
I have not been out and about much lately, so it been awhile since I have seen them.
-
There is still a group outside kennewick I see from time to time.
-
they must be fleeing the wolves :dunno: Really though, are they just not surviving in the habitat or poachers or just dispersing? :dunno:
-
Glad folks are still seeing them, sure haven't heard much about them lately.
-
saw a few the other day between Kennewick and Umatilla.

No kidding? They are sure spreading out from where they were dropped off from.
-
Might find some at you local Taco stand if they become too spread out.
-
Saw 3 yesterday. 1 buck and 2 does
-
Cool! Thanks for sharing.
-
Saw three yesterday just south of Mabton in the Horse Heaven Hills.
-
Nice!
-
they have seen them in from goldendale to kennewick, seem to pop up in roosevelt from time to time.
they wont stay on the res due to over population of horses causing no feed and the horses just pushed them out.
-
Saw 13 behind my house today. One still had a collar . At least 4 babies from this spring. They all looked healthy amoungst the range cows and rez ponies....
-
There was one poached 7-15-14 on private property outside Kennewick.

Good to hear that there are some young ones being spotted....to bad about the poached one, hope the judge makes the poacher realize it was a bad idea to kill one.
-
I think they have yet to arrest anyone for that poaching.

Unfortunately the legislature has yet to enact a law which includes mandatory civil penalties for antelope poaching like are currently on the books for other big game animals.
-
Oh!!! and I forgot to add............ wait for it .......... 4 Llamas.......... Someone dumped 4 of them this summer and they have been ranging on the hill also.... Got to love the REZ

Were antelope native to Washington? Just wondering
-
Yes

Nice bunch of speed goats....
-
That's a nice group. I only see a couple at a time.
-
I saw a group of 8 east of Hwy 97 north of Satus Pass 9/21.
-
I spied 10 up Satus creek and found a dead one dumped off pumphouse road while bird hunting.

Dumped like poached and dumped? Road kill?
Buck or doe?
-
Not sure the sex, it was head down in the ice, but definitely dumped in that spot a ways off the road and behind a fence, just like all the elk, deer, horses, and cows I find. Why do you ask?

A good friend is closely involved with the pronghorn project. I pass as much info onto him as I can get. Thanks.
-
Yes, SCI have offered rewards to anyone whom can get us a conviction on any antelope that are poached. The last thing we need are individual poaching them. When we did the counts last winter we did find one that had been hit by a car and also knew that one had been poached by Kennewick.

I really wish they could do another transplant soon.
-
More than likely the next transplant will occur on the Colville Nation Lands. Thank them and the Yakama's for their work on this. Hopefully the Spokane's will also jump on board.
